In the hands of this guy I would say there is a pretty good chance!

Ok... its only about 40 yards.. but its the first time he has shot his b-day present, he turned 7 in December.... but still not bad propped up on a 5 gal bucket with open sights, IMO

I'm glad he killed that thing. I think it's rabid.

I think that feller is ready, open sites, better than me.
No problem .22 on a pig, head shot.
Is he left eyed? Looks like he shoots like me before I figured out I was leaning over the rifle and sighting with my dominant eye.

I shoot them with a .17 regularly. We used to butcher hogs by first shooting them between the eyes with a .22lr. It usually worked instantly. Only had to shoot one more than once. He was nearly 900lbs though!

Oh my GOD!!! It is a dreaded black rifle. Don't let Feinstien see this. That rifle has TWO distinct military type features ..... a butt stock and a muzzle!!

(I was going to say front site and back site, but oh well)

My daughters were about this age when they learned to shoot Wyoming prairie dogs.

A 22 C B Short will kill just about anything that walks in Texas,
though not always legal..Shot placement and range being much in
the recipe..DD

He's a great shot. You've done well teaching him. I say a 22LR can kill anyhthing if properly placed. But, we skinned a hog last year that had a 22LR bullet embedded in it's skin and healed over. The boy might make a great shot, but be dissapointed by a hog that runs away unaffected.

I've seen 'em lose and I've seen 'em win
But I've never seen 'em quit.

Good shooting, lots of fun to come. I'm a righty but I am also left eye dominant. I shoot a rifle fine, but shoot across my side with my left eye with a pistol. He will figure it out.

Nice .22. I got one when I turned 10, I still have it.

As far as the question goes. Yes. I've seen my dad his step dad kill many domestic hogs with a .22 short. They would shoot them and then stick them in the heart with a knife. DRT.

Sorry, I thought that the conversation had moved to real hogs - but maybe I missed something. (Kinda slow at times......)

Kill them all the time in traps with a 22, but use a 17HMR taurus tracker lots of the time just for laziness and not grabbing a rifle.

I am the same way, right handed but shoot a gun with my left. My buddies kid is the same way too. He got his kid a pair of glasses and put black tape over the right eye. It helped him get comfortable shooting with his left dominant eye.
