I'm not talking about AR15's, AK's, and other tactical semi-auto rifles and accessories. What is going on with the prices of pistols and other guns.

I see used Glocks, XD's, and even KelTecs being priced upward of $650-$800 bucks and selling. Some of the FiveseveN pistols, I know they retail usually for around 1K why have they jumped up to around 3K?? Am I missing something here?

All that said I can understand some people are scared of another AWB, but the pistols will still be made and sold for the regular prices. You might have to get them with a 10 round mag, but they will still be out there. Why are revolvers that you could find for $375 or so jumped up to double that? Revolvers would be perfectly legal under another AWB so why the price jacking?

Stop perpetuating the madness people.

Its no different than when the price of grain, gas, milk, gold or silver goes up. The demand has exceeded the supply.

Pretty sure the demand for a Ruger SP101 has not exceeded the supply.

10/22's have no business selling for $600 bucks. There are 10/22's everywhere. People are just fanning the flames and making it worse.

The summary of Diane Feinstein's bill on her website contained language that suggested any platform capable of accepting a detachable magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds would be banned. It was not specified whether that would be handguns, rimfires, centerfires, rifles or anything else. There was also language that certain platforms would be excepted from the ban, but no specifics were given. You're right that this is all fueled by speculation, but people are not responding to the threat of reinstating the '94 AWB - they're responding to the threat of a much more restrictive and broader reaching ban whilst an irrational second term president occupies the whitehouse, the democrats control the senate, a meager majority of compromising Republicans control the house, some nutcase killed 20 children at an elementary school, some nutcase shot a bunch of first responders at a fire and two guys had a gunfight at a community college in Houston yesterday (among other things).

The demand is what the demand is. It's irrational to be angry about it. On a brighter note, I went to a gunshow this weekend and there were some very basic AR15 carbines listed for over $3,000. While that may not SOUND like a bright note, the good news is that NO ONE WAS BUYING ANYTHING. I think we'll see normalized inventories within about six months and normalized prices in about a year.

Not angry about it, just wondering if I missed something. That bill is going no where, just like it always does. Obama knows he is beaten on this subject thats why he passed the buck to congress and made some feel good EO's. Now I know we shouldn't give up and think we have won, but people need to stop panic buying and driving the prices through the roof. As long as we don't have some turncoat Rep. vote for this BS we have the AWB beaten at least until mid-term elections. If we lose seats then its a whole other story.

just depends on where you go. There are a few shops here in Austin that are selling glocks for $509 and $550.

I know guys that have never owned guns and never wanted guns, going out and buying all the guns and ammo they can get.
Crazy.
Just wait in about a year, there should be plenty of good deals on guns and ammo from those type guys. LOL

Funny thing is all you have to do is look around and you can find stuff at uninflated prices.

For example:
Today I saw 100 round packs of 45ACP Federal Champion for a little over $28. Bet they had 30 boxes of it.
Today I also saw ASC 17 round 6.8 Mags for about $13.
Today I saw 5.56 AE Tracer ammo for $12.99 per 20.
Yesterday I saw hi-cap Glock 23 mags for $29.
For the last 2 days I have seen stainless steel ASC 30 round AR15 mags for $29. (no not a great price but less than the $50 prices I am seeing for used ones without a name even on them).

This was all at retail and online stores folks. Just shop around.

Well actually they are AR Stoner but they are really just rebranded ASC. They are at Midway and still in stock as I type this.

Price is actually $14.99 not the $13 I posted above.

I think the fact that the NRA has been pumped so full of cash by this scare, the fact that there are no "assault weapons" on any racks anywhere in the US, the fact that the ammunition suck has been so profound that it is affecting law enforcement and the massive scope of the general outcry has not been lost on the senate (the house is different) and even an irrational second term president must question whether continuing to push this legislation will result in a tea party supermajority over the next three election cycles. We may see some sort of really watered down ban on magazines and chainsaws with picatinny mounts just so the conservatives can say that they don't support school shootings, but I agree that this isn't going anywhere.

I was looking at Glocks for 389-549 at lunch today. But the inventory was down. I saw .223 Federal at 11.99 and $25, same ammo. Fear feeds on itself, and the thought of being in this world without a firearm and no law & order is a fearful image.

Just wait it out and shop around. I've bought a ton of stuff in the last month or so and I haven't paid any inflated prices.

I've reacted to all the panic by simply picking up a box of this or that ammo when I see it for a pre-panic price. After all, you can never expect guns or ammo to get any cheaper.

I've been in a bunch of gun shops over the last couple weeks looking for reloading supplies. Lots of folks buying guns that normally wouldn't be. I've been hearing lots of "this is the trigger, this is where the magazine goes in, if you buy the gun we can sell you two boxes of ammo." etc. Lots of folks waiting a day or so for the thier phone call to go through too. It has to ease up people can only justify buying so many guns. I think ammo will be thin for a while.

Same here. Must admit, I paid a little more than I usually would for 10000 rounnds of .308 from a reloading guy in the classifieds because I didn't want to run out at the range. But Wally world hasn't had it it in over a month and told me they were no longer ordering ammo. Who knows what the availability and price will be for the remainder of the year? Some might say I hoarded, I say at least I don't have to worry about it until next year.
