Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include: Background check of owner and any transferee; type and serial number of the firearm; positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint; certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.
Ridiculous.

This ain't going to pass even the Senate. So all it's going to do is make the Demos look bad for not being for gun control, or at least that's the way Republican strategist should play this as.
She is a dirty, dirt know it al lwho thinks she knows whats good for everyone. This is just a dog and pony show. She probably thinks it will pass the Senate and therefore put the ownis on the republican controlled House to look like th ebad guys. Hopefully it will bow up in her stupid face.
NOTE: Everyone should be writing their Congress Reps telling them you are a strong supporter of gun rights and that you will not stand aside a watch if they vote for any legislation that furthers current control measures regardless of whether the proposed legislation gets voted down or not.

NOTE: Everyone should be writing their Congress Reps telling them you are a strong supporter of gun rights and that you will not stand aside a watch if they vote for any legislation that furthers current control measures regardless of whether the proposed legislation gets voted down or not. Already did! This was mailed to both Senators and Congressman for my district. As a Veteran, former Law Enforcement Officer, college educated law abiding citizen, and gun owner I am taking this time to express to you my concern for the continued erosion of the Constitution of the United States and the current trend toward dilution of my 2nd Amendment rights as provided by that Constitution.
I was saddened by the events in Newtown, Connecticut, but in my opinion new restrictions on lawful and responsible firearm owners are misguided and politically motivated. This warm fuzzy is offered to appease while actually doing nothing to solve the problems inherent in our country today. Violent crime with firearms has declined since the Federal "assault weapons ban" expired in 2004 and areas without restrictions are showing considerably less crime than those areas where law abiding citizens have been denied the right to defend themselves.
In the past few days I noticed that there is quite a bit of media attention given to offensive use of firearms while several stories showing firearms used on a daily basis for personal defense of property and person are by-passed by the national news and politicians. Some have resulted in injury to criminals and in some instances no shot was fired. I wonder if this oversight isnt politically motivated?
I know that when the chips are down one cannot depend on or wait on law enforcement. Their response may, in reality, be an information gathering activity due to call load & response time. I dont think the bad guys are going to stand by & wait. We law abiding citizens have to stand by while our property is stolen or vandalized and we are subjected to physical threats or injury.
Leave the good guys alone! You should be requiring the enforcement of the laws we currently have on the books, incarcerating the criminals who repeatedly show disregard for existing law, strengthening mental health care and improving the quality of data supporting background checks. Do NOT pass more gun laws; instead, work to enforce the more than 20,000 gun laws already on the books. Remember, You took the same oath I did! "to support & defend the Constitution".

Great to see, Hunt n Fish. I've written mine and trying to tell everyone to do the same. What annoys me almost as much as the far left gun haters, are the far right gun supporters who do nothing but complain about how this country is turning into China. Last I checked this is America and you can still be politically active and fight for what you believe in.

Won't even hit the floor for debate......Sunk in committee. The 2014 race involves roughly twenty Democratic Senators, and I would imagine that a dozen of them really dont desire this to be brought to a vote because they cant support it and hope to win in their state.

If they were serious about stopping gun violence it might help to see who's behind it.
Why is it that those who steal guns, or happen to be in possession of one, who then go and kill movie goers and children in school have never been a conservative NRA member? The same seems to hold true for 99.9 % of all the killers involved in gang related shootings in Chicago. Then some one like a Mayor Bloomberg or Senator Feinstein along with the rest of their brethrens, all dyed in the wool liberals-socialist, come along and propose to disarm law abiding citizens. There appears to be something more sinister and dangerous than guns at work. It is the liberal mind set of those people that poses a greater threat to society then all guns combined in the hands of law abiding citizen. Give it some thought. There seems to be a common thread amongst all those killers, they either are registered democrats-socialist or are associated with them in some form or another. It clearly points to a warped mind or thinking. Ft Hood - Registered Democrat Muslim Columbine - Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals Virginia Tech - Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff - Registered Democrat Colorado Theater - Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street t participant; progressive liberal Connecticut School Shooter - Registered Democrat; hated Christians Unabomber - Registered Democrat and inspired by Al Gore's Book Earth in the Balance Timothy McVey - Oklahoma City Bombing raised Democrat and pro-Union Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats. Instead of registering and banning firearms, probably a better solution would be to register and ban progressive liberal Democrats don't you think?

I know this has been posted on here already but this makes it pretty easy to write your congressmen. http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/takeAction.htmlJust follow the steps...
