Just wondering what everyone thought of the .22 TCM. Apparently the way it was explained to me is that it is a necked down 9mm to fit a .223. Runs somewhere along the lines of 2100 fps out of a 4 inch barreled 1911.

It's pretty much the same thing as a 5.7x28. It's a 22 cal bullet traveling at 2100 fps. The only difference is the gun platform.

That's what I thought. But looking into it the 5.7 runs about 1600 fps out of a similar sized pistol.

I'm looking for the rifle soon. I think it would be a hell of a yote gun.

Elite makes some ammo that puts the 5.7 in the 2000-2100 range.

One advantage of the TCM 22 is that you can also shoot 9mm out of it.

I want a RIA 22 TCM! It is actually a .223 bullet in a shortened 223 case, not a 9mm case.

the pistol can be had with a change out 9mm barrel and recoil spring. The ballistics are about the same as a 5.7X28 just on a little different case.

FN 5.7 is based on a lengthened 25 ACP brass.
TCM 22 is off a 223 shortened 223 brass

Funny thing both when put in a rifle basically duplicate the old 22 Hornet that has been around a loooooong time. Also strikes me as funny that a lot of people that discount the Hornet think about these "new" cartridges as the best thing since sliced bread. Much like the Ballistics of the 40 S&W duplicates a round that has been with us since 1873, just in a case more acceptable to semi-autos. Nothing wrong with the old 38-40 for a self defense round.

Rifle is on the way for the TCM
