What is the best shot to use when hunting teal? I have been reading some people have opinions on whether or not 2 shot is too big, or it will damage the bird.
Thanks for the help.

I use whatever I have left from the previous season. 2's, 3's, 4's........ It's great opportunity to clean house and start with a fresh case or two for the biggens. I have never had a problem using 2 shot on teal, I have damaged as many big ducks as teal using 2 shot.

Well you want damage as in a dead bird. But I know what you mean, lol. You can kill them with whatever and I don't go out and buy special shells just for teal.
I have some #3 and #6 2 3/4" lighting steel reloads that I'll use on them. In the regular season that #3 lighting steel reload is my first shot...then I will often use #2 3" steel as my second and third. But I've taken plenty of teal with #2 or bigger. Hell I've shot teal with BB when goes hunting. You probably only need one BB to kill a teal.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

2 3/4" #6
This is what you should use...
Yes #2's are overkill and you will destroy the birds especially if they are close!...

i hunt with 2 3/4 #6 for teal and bump up to 2's or 4's for big ducks dont see any reason for 3" shells unless you have a good chance of a few geese decoying or just flying low for that matter
Everyone should have something to believe in, I believe I will go hunting

Early season we use 6, good compromise for dove too. We had several early teal last year on our lease. It's listed in the guides and outfitters section.

Wish I could have stayed up that way, because it was a bust down here for teal.

It was pretty good the last two days of the early season, kinda surprised a lot of folks.
Saw some whitewings on tours this afternoon, that's good for this early here.
