I don’t believe in Doomsday but take my shooting hobby very seriously.
I was always told: yeh, get a 308, 223, 9mm, 22lr and you’ll find ammo in every store.
But guess what…. You don’t find any of those rounds and the only rational explanation is the irrational behavior of people buying all these ammos.

Right now my hobby is seriously compromised. It has become a daily struggle to find ammo, bullets and powder. I said I don’t believe in Doomsday, but actually I consider that I’m right in the middle of doomsday.

So the only way I found to prevent this is by going against what everyone has been saying so far.

Get a 308…Nope. I’m going to replace mine with a 7-08. Lots of 7-08 ammo out there.
Get a 22lr… I’ll keep it, but will probably add a nice air gun or a 17hmr for cheap shooting(lots of those ammo still on the shelf)
Get a 9mm…. Never… I’ll stick with my 40 cal. Good luck finding any 9mm ammo out there.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

What does this have to do with preppers? I'm a prepper and guess what I haven't bought a single round since this nonsense has started. I have several thousand rounds in my safe. Think maybe you should look at people like you that is scared now and is buying up all the supply. Going to go out on a limb and say if someone is a prepper they were already prepared and doesn't have to pay these god awful prices.

I don’t like to stock lots of supplies. I like experimenting with different products. For example I don’t want to buy 20 lbs of varget as I might prefer IMR 4064 3 month down the road.

You have long date preppers that have all they need and didn’t go crazy in buying stuff during the last month, and you have those newbie preppers that have started this craziness.

Hooligan, you find 9mm ammo every time you go to the store? Dude, That’s your basement, not a store.

I bought 9mm in walmart today at 10am and for a outrageous price of 14.50 per box of Remington, box of 50. limit of 2 boxes per customer. if all the stores would do this there would be more ammo per customer.

Max 2 box/customer (walmart is 1 box of the same ammo I think) is good, but has it’s limitations (You can’t get enough for your immediate needs and usually it’s put in place once it’s already too late).

This morning I went to Basspro and they had a bunch of 22lr minimag 36gr bulk 375 rounds. I bought 1 box and went shooting with it. I liked it. I came back later to buy some more, and everything was sold out (all the 22WMR were still in stock).

I have changed over to 40SW myself no more 9mm for me. I am going to dump my Remington 700 SPS in .223 for a .308 as there is still plenty of places to get that ammo.

Seems sort of silly. Find a caliber you like and shoot it. Twice in the last 4 year period you haven't been able to immediately go out and buy a box of the most popular calibers. This too shall pass and there's no need to act irrationally in response to irrationality. That would make you irrational. And silly.

No 9mm? Hmmmmmmm If I had to bug out I would take my Marlin 9mm Camp Rifle and my S&W 5906. I have always liked the Marlin camp rifle just for the fact it does not have an AR15 style. Very roboust carbine. Over the years it has proved it can put a lot of meat in the pot.

If the dooms day doesn't come for a few more months I'll have a pistol supressor on it. I think it will be good to go.

I guess the only draw back with the Marlin camp rifle is that it is not stainless steel.

Go with 30-06 ... no problem there.
Pistol 45 Colt.

As far as people preparing, haven't bought a single round since October. Reloading supplies are still readily available if you know where to shop. smile

Just can't go wrong with a good 30-30. Always been my favorite gun in the safe anyway. Shorter range rifle, so invest in a good ghilli suit

Buy a glock 40 cal and a wolf 9mm barrel. Takes about 15 seconds to change out and you can shoot either 9mm or 40 cal, whichever is available.

LOL, the idea behind prepping is to stockpile things AHEAD of time so you don't have to worry about aquiring them once the SHTF.

You see a good deal, just buy it. Don't buy a sampler and come back later. It' will be gone by then!

I don't understand why this idea is beyond a LOT of people's comprehension.

It really IS that easy. up

Doesn't seam so silly when folks are cramming the stores and scouring the internet trying to find stuff, while we are sitting back watching.
