New to yotes and need to thin the herd on my deer lease. Lots of tracks, seen 3-4 during deer season but no shot opportunites. What is a good strategy for next couple of months. Thanks for any help here

I know end of next month going in to march is usually the time pups are being born. so a puppy injured would be a good call. this time of would more like likely be any distress call and location call.

If im close to town, I'd go with the pup in distress. In the open more rabbit. Just my opinion.

IMO, a couple chicken legs or 1/2 a rabbit on a string hung about 3' ~ 4' off the ground has always worked well for me. Leftovers from the night before or bacon grease works too. Last weekend I killed 4 between 8 - 10 am with a 20 ga & buckshot.

With this latest cold spell going on for a while, trapping should start getting easier.

Cotton tail and jack rabbit distress are working well. Called one up last night with a little pup distress .. Depends on your location sorta

In north Texas (clay county) where there aren't a lot of jack rabbits, I found a combination of bird distress and cottontail distress worked well last night and this morning for me. Called up quite a few yotes last night but couldn't get a shot on any, but this morning I took care of business with a cottontail distress after 7 minutes on the first set.
