Great story. There is so much more to a Trophy than just antler size.

That is a great story and I too had a similar story. Apologies up front for I don't know how to post pics. I have hunted for about 6 years growing up in New York. O never did take a deer, anf since I joined the military I have not hunted in 10 years. Well this was my first chance to deer hunt since 2002. I have had the opportunity to hunt with my 7 yo daughter. She loves being in the woods but I was not sure of her ability to process the act of shooting and processing a deer to eat. I had a friend in Hamilton county that agreed to let us take a doe on an eve hunt. Well in the stand we saw several does but I was not positive they were mature enough as I was nor familiar with Texas deer sizes. We watched the does walk away and my heart sunk as I knew we were reaching that point where my daughter was getting bored with watching and not shooting. Thankfully she understood the idea behind shooting a mature animal and not just shooting to shoot. Well we saw a nice 8 pt walk out just before dusk and I dent a text telling the land owner about the deer. I was able to estimate him to be 4 based on the stuff I learned on this very site. Well to mg suprise the owner had one policy on his land, is it bigger than anything you've ever shot? I told him I never shot a deer. He said take it and I started shaking profusely. Lined up the shot pulled the trigger and before I could see he deer react my daughter jumped in my arms and started yelling and crying she was so ecstatic. We got the deer a trophy in my book that I will never be able to beat nor would I try. As a veteran I was offered a chance to take a once in a lifetime buck after that and with relative ease the decision was easy, I said no. The experience was far better than the wall art. Now my daughter claims it is her deer and everytime we eat the meat she can't stop grinning. That I can never replicate, first deer ever with my daughter. If you all would like to see a pic pm me a # and ill send it to you. Hood you enjoy this as I've never really gotten a chance to share it like this, thank you.
