just looking around on the forum before I go out for the last time this season. my poppa loves to tell it! my poppa and I were always fisherman but have only hunted for 3 years. one day I said, poppa I want to go huntin! ok was all he said and the next thing I new I was at the lease out in Vernon and we were deer huntin with my cousin and his family! we got up in the stand on sunday morning very hopeful because after this morning we were headed home. this was one of my first times even in a deer stand so as soon as I could make out shapes, I saw deer and already was shakin. So a few minutes later I could see through the binoculars 3 does and 2 8-points, so I got locked on the bigger one and it just so happened the was a mesquite tree between us and him, and he stepped behind it. so we waited what felt like forever and not 45 seconds later this big boy walked out chasin a doe! I whispered poppa, poppa big one big one. all I heard was lay it on em. the guys in camp never had seen this buck before! great first buck and great first experience!
