Like the look of the sxs 20ga. $399.00 price tag is appealing as well. Looking for input. Anyone here own one? If so, are you happy with it or would you rather trade it in for a box of Milkduds.

I don't own one but I borrowed one at the last minute on a dove hunt last year due to ejection problems with my auto. I shot it all day and it did well, no mechanical issues, just took me awhile to get used to the feel. The buddy I borrowed it from has used it the last 3 years or so and loves it. The one I used is a 12ga.

I have two, a 12 gauge O/U and the 20 gauge S/S that you are looking at. I love them both. The S/S is very light, but still swings well. I think you will be happy with it.

I hjave the 20 O/U and its fantastic and much lighter than my Lanber O/U. They are not made here, but imported for Academy from I believe Turkey and thier warranty work is done by Briley in Houston. Excellent gun for the money. I plan on buying a 12ga around Christmas just to have a spare. Make sure you go through all the boxes they have and pic the best wood- some of the best I've seen in a while!

Really like both of mine--12 and 20 gauge o/u. I've killed dove, ducks, geese, rabbits, pheasants, quail...a bunch of clays with them. People say they're great guns for the money, I think they're just great guns period. Have had some work done on my 12 by Briley and have been super happy with all of it. Get a recoil pad for your 12 and you can shoot it all day long. SVL makes one that fits it, or you can get a grind-to-fit type.

Check www.shotgunworld.com and navigate to the 'I Love My' section and check out the Yildiz threads. Lots of great stuff and info on there.

I say go for it.

Thanks-

My 12 gauge O/U kicked like a mule with Winchester Super Speeds and the cheap Federals, but it was fine with Remington Heavy Dove. I believe the ballistics on those loads is pretty similar, so I am not sure why the Remington's kicked less. Anyway, I put a limbsaver pad on the gun and it worked great. The Limbsaver pad that fits the gun is No. 10702. I think it says it is a pad for Beretta's, but it fits just fine.

I just bought one last week. I like it alot. Make sure you oil it when you buy it, they are bone dry and tight on the break-open. Mine has loosened up prettty well. I guess you would need to do that with any new gun though.

Most of the guys I chat with on the shotgun forums suggest taking the stock off and using a cleaner to get the grease of and then oiling it prior to putting it back together. They will also loosen up as you shoot them more.

I have a 12 guage O/U and love it. Works for me plus 1/3 of the price of the big boys and to me shoots just as well.

I will just add, that whether a Yildiz is right for you depends on what you are planning on using it for. If you want a gun that will shoot thousands of rounds a year of clay targets, year after year, I would go with something else. Yildiz's are made for that kind of work and would probably fail. On the other hand, if you want a hunting gun that you can also shoot clays with, a Yildiz should work great.

Just bought a limbsaver pad for my Y-gun me-12. Academy now sells them made just for the Yildiz. should absorb some of the kick...these guns are really lightweight.

I have an MX Clays and have enjoyed the heck out of it. It is a clay buster. I reload and use a 1 oz load and about 16 grs of 700x. For a 1200 FPS I have found the recoil to be very mild.

Yup...did the same thing the day I bought my recoil pad.

I have a 12 G O/U and it works great. I have a couple of other buddies with Yildiz shotguns and they have also had great experiences. It is definitely worth the purchase, IMO.

The reason I didn't buy a Yildiz is because I found a slightly used Browning.

Personally - I would rather have a 2nd hand Browning, Beretta, Remington, etc... than a brand new Yildiz.

I don't know jack about shotguns...and I am by NO means an experienced hunter. I am only replying with my reasons for what I bought...because I was considering buying a Yildiz until I realized that for about the same $$ I could find a nice gently used top-name brand shotgun.

Yep. I have two Yildiz's but if I could have gotten a Beretta or Browning for the same or a little more money, I would have been all over it. Yildiz's are very nice but they don't stack up to the B-guns.
