I noticed my Leica scope doesn't have near as big of a "halo" or ring when you look through the scope when compared to the Bushnell Elite 3200. What is the design reason for this? Are there $200-300 scopes that will give you that same look even if the glass isn't as good as the Leica?

It's just a matter of eye relief. Not much to do with the scope quality.

One of the factor is the magnification. In the picture, the Bushnell is obviously set at a higher magnification than the Leica causing a shorter eye relief.

Here's some reading on this.

I don't believe magnification is very relevant here. I just reshot these pics with both scopes at 9x with the same results.

Every scope has a certain amount of eye-relief. Obviously the Leica has more than the Bushnell.

The Leica has 4" eye relief, and the Busnell has 3.3". So move the camera to 3.3" from the Bushnell and see what your picture looks like.

that's all eye relief... as far as $200-300 scopes comparing to zeiss, swaro or S&B, you're not going to find it.

this is a bushnell banner witht he cam at about the right eye relief with the scope cranked to 20x
