Forgive me now im not a duck hunter

At a park I go to I have seen this duck. There is a mixture of urban ducks and wild. I have seen more and more lately. Mostly mallards and I think widgeons? They make a cool whistle sound.

Anyway there is one drake there, he has a mallard head for sure but different body feathers. Same size as a mallard drake. His body feathers are browish cinnamon color with some black I think. He is alot more wild than tame and wont let me get real close to take a good picture.

I have a iphone pic but I don't know how to post it. If you pm me I can text it or email it to you and you can post.

Im just wondering what kind of duck he is

A hen and a drake grin

It's just a tame duck descended from mallards

You can buy them at the flea market

Domestication makes them lose their pretty colors... That one is in between generations of fully wild and fully domestic. They have also bred dark and light color phases of the mallard..
