I treasure the time with family and friends, I truly do. Many of you know my family and know the shooting part comes natural. About 5 years ago my wife took up deer hunting, much to her father's delight. She's hunted alone in a stand for years, in fact, since the beginning, but it was a lot like she was "hunting with me". Often we were miles apart, in different directions, and even riding in different groups to the stands. Going through the camera SD card, found some pics of a proud moment this year, when it dawned on me, this was the first time she went hunting, by herself. It was the last NASCAR race day of the year, the championship on the line, and just me and her at camp. She went hunting. It don't get much better than this!!! Can't wait for another season, Nascar and deer season. Go Vic, Go Biff!

I am not married but hunting with family has it's special place. I hunted with my Dad this year off and on most of the season for the first time in over 30 yrs. We hunted in different locations but stayed in touch thru the seasons. I was in the stand with him when he killed a nice buck the 28th of Dec. He was 88 this fall. Special hunt with special memories. Great post and pic!

Hunting is something that is in my blood, much like what you find in a good hunting dog. At its core, it's a natural-born desire to create a harvest for the family. But beyond that, it provides a welcomed escape from the worries and concerns of work and life. The time that I spend in the woods leaves me refreshed and re-energized to take on another week of work and the stress that often goes with it.
I'm sure there was a time when men lived much more simple lives but felt the very same way. They left their hut or cabin with concerns for their families, and felt refreshed when they returned with something that would help sustain them.
"Some people will never like you because your spirit irritates their demons."

For me, it's a combo of 2 things:
Have always loved the outdoors.
Have a very stressful job and love the peace and quiet and non-city of being in a deer blind or out on a lake.
My wife doesn't hunt or like the woods. My son definitely does. Can't wait til he's hitting the fields with me.

Cameron until she got to going a couple of times, she didn't like it either. As we both progressed in careers at work, stress levels increased. She's a beach person, but finally realized that time hunting is a lot like time at the beach. Clocks, schedules, deadlines, drama, all get left at the gate.

It means that I get to spend time with my brother after many years of not doing so. Three years ago, I was able to get on the lease with him, and we have spent many, many hours together, driving to the lease, working, and hunting. We haven't been able to spend time together like this since we were young, many, many years ago. We have never been closer.
Now, my son has a new job, and it looks like he might be able to get on our lease (if we have an opening) with us, which means his three sons will be able to learn about hunting and the outdoors.
Deer hunting is great when you are not with family. It is a true blessing when you can hunt with your family!!

Can't explain exactly why I love it so much but the simple answer is that it's in my blood. I have been enjoying the outdoors my whole life. This year I had my six year old son in the stand with me to shoot his second deer. It was cold with snow on the ground and I was thinking he must be miserable. He looked me square in the eyes and I quote, "Dad when I get older and have a son, I am going to teach him to hunt just like you are doing."

hunting is my passion. I have other hobbies, things i like to do etc, but hunting especially deer, is what i love....especially with family. my dad introduced me to deer hunting when i was 6 years old and i have been hooked ever since. Just being in the woods and watching the deer, birds, and just wildlife period is so relaxing and for me good for the soul. When you can add your family to that and spend time together, especially that as we get older that time gets shorter and shorter, it just makes it even better!!! im looking forward to taking my son hopefully next season......
