Looking at make a trade with local shop. They have a couple guns I want but not enough to just pull out the cash. I have couple guns I no longer use and would like them out of the gun cabinet but I don't know what a reasonable trade value maybe. I'm going be out of pocket quite a bit, regardless. I just don't want to seem foolish when we start negotiation. Will you guys help with a guess at a reasonable trade price may be?

Guns I'm looking to move are:

Older Chinease SKS with plastic folding stock and 20rd detachable mag. Good condition.

Older Browing BPS 10 gage: Good condition but with the blue thinning in a few spots.

Kahr CW9: New condition maybe 100 rds fired.

Your BPS is probably worth about $300 to a pawn shop.

Your SKS is worth less than $100 to a pawn shop.

No idea on the Kahr, probably around $300 based on auction asking prices...

I will never trade in guns again. I will sell on Gunbroker, at least then you can get market prices for the condition. Only problem is you need to make sure you ship to an FFL if it is an out of state transfer.

Most likely get $200 more a gun that what GriffGruff78 posted

Most shops will bend you over on trades.

You would be better off selling them here at a severely discounted price and you will still come out ahead.

Any store you try to trade with will value your trades at 1/2 or less value so that they can make money on the sale and on the trade even before it's sold..If they sell an item valued at $500
for $300 cash and take two weapons valued at $300 ea. but only give them a $100 value, then sell at $300 each, they've made $400
from the two trade ins, and probably about $80 maybe on the new sale. It's much like used cars..stacked deck..Don

+1 to what everyone is saying. Sell outright to someone outside of the deal if you can, stay away from trading with the store. They are set up to win on this, which means you lose.

Selling them on here is probably your best option.Ask a fair price & they should sell fast.

most stores will see your guns on consignment as well....probably charge you 10 to 15% commission to do it but you won't have to deal with anyone directly and it does get the gun yellow paged into someone else's name

Same thing as trading in a car....you will get way less than if you sell it outright. For instance....retail value of the CW9 is $300-$350. You would probably get 40% of that ($120-$140.) you could sell it here for $200-$250 and you would get more than trading it in, and the buyer would get a good buy as well.....I know I would give $200 for a CW9.............
