Your nose knows.
Most people would probably throw away a dry aged ribeye if they saw it before it was trimmed.

what type of meat? was it fresh or thawed?

It should be fine. Key it to not let it sit in water.
We used to keep quarters off of deer for up to 2 weeks in our old beer/deer fridge in the garage.

Touch it and see if it feels slimy. If it feels slimy or tacky to touch then it will not be good. If it was kept dry and not in bloody water then it should be ok.

If you ever get the chance once you have skinned your deer clean the carcass off and let it hang in a walk in cooler for a few days.... aged venison is really good too
