I've been looking for a top rail for one of my carbines.
Everywhere I have looked has them out of stock.
Optics Planet says will ship 6-15 days does that mean they are also out of stock and should receive it in that time frame or they actually have them in stock an it will arrive in that time frame?
Anyone ordered through Optics Planet with this same info.? Thanks

I wouldn't order through them, I would sell the gun if they were the only ones who had what I needed. Shady company.

See the bottom of the thread below to see just a few of the people, myself included, they have messed over.

I'm one of those who has never had anything but positive experiences with optics planet over the course of six years of patronage, but if everyone else is out of stock, they probably are too.

I would give them a call to see if I like what they have to say before I totally give up hope.

Every single order I have placed with them the item has not been in stock.

Dang, I just ordered a duty holster from them, not easy to find a holster for a Springfield xd. May just continue to carry the glock all the time I guess.

Where are you looking? I've not had any problems finding XD holsters, and my cop friends haven't had problems finding duty gear for them either.

Hey, I've got a novel idea. CALL THEM AND TALK TO SOMEONE IN PERSON...it works all the time

Never had a problem with Optics Planet, have bought all sorts of stuff through them including Nightforce scope rails/rings. And yes, I called them to check inventory on hand, when confirmed, I just gave the gal my order.

this is the BIGGEST mistake people have when ordering online. If in doubt call them.

I've got another novel idea, it's called web-based inventory management. It's all the rage this century.

I've ordered several scopes and a couple of holsters from them and have never had a problem. But like was said above, every order that I placed with them I called and talked to a real life human being

Zen...listen up my man...
If they come back with that little message that says something like:
We are sorry, but the item you ordered it temporarily out of stock, we expect them on XXXXX, then something to the effect of if you can't wait that long for your stuff, click here for a refund...
DON'T PASS GO, CLICK HERE FOR THE REFUND NOW!
Or ignore it and you will get another reminder as the promised date comes and goes.

Optics Planet is a drop shipper.
They sell stuff from different bulk shipping warehouses that has stuff for sale and may or may not be in stock at that time.
The bulk shipping warehouses that stock "their" stuff also stock stuff for other places like sportsmans warehouse, cheaper than real, buy.com, etc.
Optics Planet is very happy to sell it to you, then check stock.
It is as simple as hiring someone who can actually tie the warehouse inventory to their shopping cart system but they freeking can't seem to handle it.

I got lucky on my first order and got it quick. Never completed 3 more orders, always cancelling after waiting forever and getting "the message" regularly about how soon they expect it.

You can find paddle and off duty all day, but a good duty i cant. Can prove some links, looking for a level 2 or 3 duty holster.

Did it to me.
Placed order for in stock items.
Only part of my order shipped.
Never notified that the remainder was back ordered.
I had to call them to get the straight answer.
I cancelled the remainder of the backorder.

Hello everyone,

Cynthia here from OpticsPlanet. I can't begin to apologize enough for the problems and inconveniences we've caused. I understand that many of you are weary of us and our reputation on THF precedes us, but I'll do my best to address the concerns that were brought up in this thread.

In the past, not having a way to check what's in stock without calling us was one of our biggest weaknesses, there's no sugar coating that. If you were one of the customers who were affected by this, we truly dropped the ball on that one and I am sincerely sorry. You have every right to be frustrated and angry, I know I would be, too. We do pay attention to your feedback—be it positive or negative—and are constantly trying to improve our store so it can meet your expectations. In the last half half, we have introduced our “Check Product Availability” feature on all the products we carry. It tells you how fast we can ship out the products from our warehouse and is very accurate as it uses real-time information from our warehouse. I hope this answers your question ZenArchery, but if you can send me the link to the product page, I'd be more than happy to look into it and give you a more accurate answer to that specific product.

As for drop-shipping, out of the thousands of orders we process daily, the majority of them ships straight from our warehouse. We try to avoid drop-shipping if possible. However, there are times when we will run out of something and need to order them from the manufacturer. When this happens, it usually takes a few days or up to a few weeks (depending on the manufacturer) for us to receive the products. During this time, we use drop-shippers so that we can get you what you ordered faster.

Again, I apologize for any disappointments you've had with us in the past. We do care very much about our customers and when things do go wrong we try our best to make it right. If you have an order that you're concerned about, please feel free to PM me with your order number and I promise to look into it for you and do what I can to help. Or you can always call us at 800-504-5897 (we can also be reached via email or Live Chat) to talk to one of our customer service reps. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Cynthia D.

I've had good luck with Opticsplanet and they have had the best price on the particular item I was looking for at the time. Quick shipping has never been an issue either...

I will never use them again. I tried to order a scope, well.it.was.backordered . I wasnt supposed to be charged till it shipped. i checked my bank account and I had been charged. I called them to dee if it had shipped. It was still backordered. Long story short I had hell getting my money back and cancelling the order.
