While looking for a wounded deer last week end this is what was discoverd, no this is not the deer we were looking for! This deer had been drug under a big cedar tree and partial covered up! I was sure right away what I was dealing with, a cat and not a kitty cat either! Two day later a close friend was showing his visiting family from Ohio the ranch (by the way we are high fenced) when they spotted the cat probably a 150 / 160 pound male running from our gut dump site! Unable to get there gun up and out fast enough he got away. Traps are going out today and will be hunting Old Tom for a while wish me luck!

Yep. Got a lion on your hands. Good luck getting him.

I would love to take on a cat with my bow on the ground without dogs.

Dang. I arrowed a deer over Christmas but didn't track him til morning. When I found him one of his hindquarters was gone. I figured coyote but I've heard of cats in the area. Is there a way to tell?

cats bury, wont eat if the meat starts to spoil. even the slightest bit & they leave it for the yotes. they eat muscle & rarely take big bones.

When I was a kid, I once found a spot beside an oat field where one had jumped a spike buck while he was. I was able to track it about 100 yards until I found the skeleton stripped clean under a pile of leaves. That left a big impression. Good luck!
