Would like to introduce myself as I have browsed the forums for a while but never made an account and wasn't a hunter.

I live in Fort Worth and I'm starting to get into hunting this year. I will be going on my first hunt next week as I will be going up to Virginia and will be hunting deer. Once I am done with that trip I plan on hunting boar, Turkey, Deer, and varmints here in Texas.

I own a Savage Axis in .270 and plan on buy a Henry Lever Action .22 for the varmint hunting.

None of my friends down here hunt and I was advised that it would be best to join a club and would like to know if there are any decent hunting clubs in or around the Fort Worth area. Most of my hunting will be done on the weekends with weekday hunts being done during the deer season.

If you looking for a lease, your more than likely going to have to get on one of these wed sites that you have to pay for, but, it is worth it, and remember to always go look at the lease before you put any money down and make sure you understand all the rules and the person in charge of the lease is easy to get ahold of for any questions you may have. If you need any help or advice everyone on this forum is real helpful and has probably been there before

Financially a lease isnt on the table and I have been looking at ranches that offer hog hunting.

Welcome!

Texas has some excellent public land hunting opportunities for deer, hogs, ducks, and even dove that are very economical. Check the TPWD website for Type II info and order their booklet offering draws for public land hunts.
National forests like the Davy Crockett and Sam Houston offer excellent opportunities but to really take advantage of them buy the maps, talk to the rangers, and get as far from the roads as possible-especially the major roads.

Great hunting for next to nothing is available if you do a little legwork.
Enjoy your new passion and the outdoors!

The term "club" can have a lot of different meanings. Our relatives in the Carolinas call it a club, but it is basically the same thing we call a lease here.

Anyway, I wish you the best whichever way you choose to go.

Well the version of Hunting club I am wanting is just a group of people that like to hunt in their free time and be able to go hunting with instead of going by myself. Doesnt have to be on a lease or anything.
