I've always enjoyed reading these so I figured I would do one. I came back out for one last week to get a doe and a couple of hogs for the freezer.
I've seen about twenty deer so far, most being in the wheat fields on the way to my stand. I decided to do some still hunting so I left the cabin a little later than normal so I could see a little better.
After walking a bit I came up one a few cattle and did my best to work around them though they had a huge white sow with them. They eventually ran off into the brush and I continued on. I walked another 300yds or so and spotted a nice young 8pt. I watched him for a minute or two then another young buck came out heading the opposite direction. This buck had a long spike on one side and a typical 4pt on the other. Would like to have seen him during regular season.
Thats it for now. Decided to climb up into my tripod and watch for a while. I'll update later.

I don't understand the regular season comment. It is still regular season in San Saba county until 30 minutes past sundown this coming Sunday (January 6).

I ended up crawling up and shooting a decent sized doe at twenty yards. She dropped and never took a step. I'll get pics up later.  82ag, perhaps I should look it up again but I could have sworn that season ended on the 31st and spike or anterless started the 1st and went until the 16th.

Congrats on the doe, but you could have managed the herd by taking the nice 4 x 1. Stay after him, still got 4 1/2 days!

Here is my doe. I've already taken a nice ten and this doe so the cull more than likely gets a pass this year since two deer are enough for me.
