I normally don't get to do much deer hunting, but I got in a week of hunting this year and had some good luck.

First buck was a 10 pt with 16" inside spread.




Next buck I got 2 days later. He was a 9 pt with 18 1/2" inside spread

I am going to euro mount both deer. This will be my first euro mount. I have the head of the deer about middle ways of the neck. What's my 1st step?

Hey, i dumped my phone in the lake last week while killin ducks. I had to get a new phone. Shoot me a text. I would have sent you these pics as soon as i shot them, but i didn't have your number.

Skin the head. Get a turkey frier and a pot that the head will fit in. Fill it with water and put some borax in there if you have it. Heat it til it's almost boiling. Then slow cook the meat off the skull. Use a knife to pick off the meat as you go. It may take a few hours. Use a piece of wire doubled over to scoop out the brains. The borax will help degrease it, but I also take some dish soap and wash it afterwards. I like to scrub it with that and an old toothbrush to degrease it and get the meat and gristle out of the hard to reach areas. When it's cleaned and dried, coat the skull with some 40% peroxide gel. You can get it at a beauty supply. The liquid will work, but the gel is much easier because it will stick to the skull better. Don't get it on the antlers, and let it sit for a day. Some people have slightly different methods, but that's the best way I've found to do it.

I hunt family land in MS. We typically see lots of does, occasionally a young buck.....but last year my buddy killed a real nice 13 pt out there, and then this year I got these 2. Besides these 2 bucks, I only saw 3 does in 5.5 days of solid hunting. Deer just weren't moving.

We have no cameras or anything set up over there. That kinda stinks because we don't really know what kind of deer we have there (except the ones that are seen or killed) I think i'm going to get my brother-in-law to put some up for this next season.
