So I went out for an evening of Dove shooting with the Beretta Silver Hawk that belonged to my dad who passed two years ago...which he baught either in the 60's or 70's. As I was walking from the car to the field I jumped a dove from a tree that was a distant shot... so I grabbed he rear trigger and shot and missed no biggie. Later while standing aroun bored I thought I would shoot at an empty barrel to see how it patterns. 30yrds out and bang... hmm that sounded funny...sure enough I look up and see a bulge in the barrel about 4 in down...HOLLLY CRAP!!!

I always break my shotguns open and just look to see if the barrel is clear but I didnt look close enough...

My dad in later years had a habit of taking things apart putthing them back wrong or just woring on stuff that didnt need fixen.
I guess he thought he needed to place one the 28ga choke tubes from his Red Label inside his beretta ...and IM MAD at myself for not looking closer and seeing it...

So going to look into cutting down and maybe having choke tubes made....

All this happened as I was standing there thinking how nice it was to have a SxS in MOD and FULL...as my others are all IM MOD..

IM still cursing up a storm at myself

If the bulg is not very big, it may be ok as it is and not really effect the pattern. You would want a gunsmith to look at it first to make sure it was safe, like no separation of the rib, or weakening of the barrel. Also you could send it to Briley and see if they can remove the bulg. They START at $95 for the service, but I bet it would be more. Still might be cheaper and than all that other work and would preserve the gun in it's original configuration.

I bulged one once. I feel your pain. I was lucky, even though it was my fault, the company replaced the barrel set for me.

Still makes me shudder though.

Call Briley's in Houston. That's the only place I would trust to handle the repairs you are talking about.

We have used Briley for a few things. Peter has always taken good care of us and our guns.

Briley will take good care of your wallet too, it won't be cheap.

My Dad's old Revelation shotgun had a bulged barrel from a squib load. I found a place in Irving south of 183 off Beltline, Lee's gun parts, but he had a barrel for it and was pretty reasonable price. You might give them a call and see if they have one or just take it by there like I did.
