Gonna try cooking my first Sandhill crane. What is the best way to fix it? Any recipes out there? A little help would be appreciated.

Got a great one, makes a large pot of soup.

1. Clean & de-feather crane

2. In a large soup bowl, boil 6 cups water

3. add chicken flavored soup spices & seasoning

4. add mixed vetables of choice - carrots, spuds, celery, ect.

5. Lots of noodles, homemade preferably

6. Get a nice stew chicken at H.E.B. & chop and dice up

7. add chicken to stew & slow cook for rest of afternoon

8. throw crane out back door for the buzzards

9. ENJOY a fine homecooked dinner!

Just chicken fry. In an electric skillet, or cast iron.
Bread with flour.
Might saute, few onions for the gravy.
Good meal. If you know what your doing.

I made up my mind a long time ago I don't want to eat anything that "you gotta know how to cook it.". I like food you can mess up a little and its still good.. no crane, no javelina, no carp...

You really can't go wrong with crane fajitas.

It's good. Best dark meat bird- by far. I just marinade the breasts, grill, and then slice. Pick your favorite and grill to taste. Other than burning to a crisp or eating it raw, I'm not sure how you could go wrong.
