Did I Miss It?
Can anyone tell me when it was?
After Oct. 31, all the deer just quit coming out! Not one sighting in 12 straight days in the stand.
What do you think happened?

Acorns, heat, moon phase. The deer went nocturnal.

yep, everything was done at night, no rut activity observed in hunt county either.

Yeah I haven't seen deer in the daylight since then. Lots of pigs and coyotes tho.

It was a very subdued rut this year. I live in one of those burbs where the deer are all pets and get fed regularly. Its easy to observe their habits out my front window. Around t-day the bucks went nocturnal with minimal chasing in daylight. But today, the kids and I watched an awesome display of posturing and then a big locked horn fight in my yard. Almost had horns stuck in my pickup. All over a bunch of does, a couple which were obviously in season, eating my burmuda. So I'm guessing late rut with late births with high mortality if next winter is rough.
