I have some Stealthcam Delta 8 cams. I have the camera set to take 3 pics every 20 seconds if something is there. I used to have it set to go every minute. It now seems to miss deer. I'm not sure if it missed them before. I was hunting and 5 deer were under the feeder by the cam and no pics were taken. I'm thinking it might be because of the 20 second setting. Anyone notice this before? Would y'all suspect the 20 second setting? I'm running a 12v external battery setup and the battery had 12.1 volts. Maybe the battery not being fully charged could be it too. I know it could just be the camera but I'm thinking it could be lowish voltage or the 20 second setting. What do y'all think? I'm going to change it to minute setting and check the difference on Monday.

I have the same problem on a Cuddeback. If I walk test it, it takes pics. However, I've seen deer at the feeder with no pics taken. It's frustrating.

My guess is that the animals are moving in slowly. I have seen animals fool cameras in the past by walking slowly or walking directly toward the camera, not that they mean to fool the camera, but that is the net result. I have seen deer come in that don't trigger the camera until something spooks them and they raise their head suddenly. So when you say you tested the camera and it worked, I believe you, but you probably tested it with movement not like what the deer are producing.
As for MathMan, then go back and redo your calculations. Test again on the 1 minute setting and see if that clears up everything or not.

I'll let y'all know what happens. I'll change it to one min tomorrow and check it next week. It makes sence they might be too slow. Or somehow it doesn't sence them. Might not be the settings but I'll see.

Could also be that its too far way, try moving it a few ft. closer if your problem persists.

Yep. They all have issues. The camera power cord got eaten by coons. I'll fix it next week. I'll let y'all know if it gets pics better.

My guess is the combo of the low battery and the 3 shot burst.

I've got 4 Moultries and I'm happy with them. Two of the older ones have LCD displays that barely work anymore, so that's a negative, but they still take great pictures. The last two bought were D55 infrared units and they have held up great and take good pictures. All of them are terrific on battery life. I'm extremely happy with that. The only negative about the Moultries I have is the rather slow trigger time. I get a lot of pictures of the butt of the passing deer, but I still get a lot of good pictures too.
I had one StealthCam but I couldn't get it to work for anything. Their customer service was as bad as any I ever tried to deal with. I took it back to where I bought it and they swapped me out to a Moultrie. If they hadn't, I was going to smash the Stealthcam into bits and mail it back to Stealthcam with a nasty note. Maybe some of ya'll have one that you like, but that was far from my experience.

The only issue I've had with my two Reconyx is too many pictures. The trigger is so fast, the first picture always has an animal in it.
I set them to take 3 pictures/trigger 1 minute apart and used the aggressive setting and got several thousand pictures in a week. Had to slow that down a bit. It took quite a while to screen the pics.
They are expensive, but I had another brand miss a herd of deer enter my feeder pen, graze, wander around & leave. I was excited to get the card & show everyone but got ZIP. It tried to make a liar out of me but my wife was there too. Whew.
Reconyx is all I'll use where it is important. The others go when I don't really care what happens or if the location isn't secure.

One thing you might also check is the heigth of the camera from the ground. If it is too low it will not catch movement. I've had issues with the Stealth's and have since gone to Bushnell's new HD 8meg. So far it is a great camera, blows the Stealth away.

The camera is 5 ft off the ground. It might just be the camera. I guess some pics is better than no pics.

5' and level? Deer are not much more then 30-34" tall at the back. Head if up is higher on all but still not 5' unless it is a tall big buck. Unless you are pointing or aiming downward you need to lower it. I use pocket or belt height and level aim.

It is pointed down but maybe that's the problem...I figured it sent out a wide senceing beam...maybe it is just missing them up close because its over them...I'll change the height tomorrow and fix the battery cord. Thanks!!!

I had the same problem with mine and quit fighting it and adjusting and returned it. New one works like a champ.

I put it lower. About 3'. it was about 6 ft! The ground slopes from where it is hanging. I put a new power cord cause the coons chewed the old one and set it to 3 pics 1 min. intervals.
I wrapped the power cord in grey tape hoping that will help if from getting eaten as bad. It seems every week it gets chewed up!!! I also put logs around the tree it's on covering the cord. Hope that helps!!!

You might try putting the cord through some flexible conduit. If you use any type of tape, the coons will chew through it.
3' is a much better height. You may have been aiming over the deer.

Are you meaning the wire loom? Will plastic wire loom work or do I have to get metal? I'll be checking the cameras tomorrow. I'll let y'all know if it worked the whole week finally and if it missed anything.

Screen door spring will work in a pinch also for protecting wires.

I would never have thought of that.

I had mine set and watched five bucks at my feeder. Didn't get a single pic. I angled it down some more(it is five feet of the ground) and now the pics are coming like crazy. Walk testing is unreliable, you have to crawl test it.

Good thought but I haven't changed the height in years. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Finally might have figured it out today. It needed the firmware update. Now that I updated it I hope it will take tons of pics like it should.
