My buddy, Meathunter put our two sons in for the either sex rifle hunt and they got drawn. Last year we did the doe hunt and this year we will be looking for a good S TX buck for the boys.

If anybody has been this year on any of the hunts so far on the Chap, please do tell and 'give up the goods' so to speak. LOL

Hopefully we will catch the tail end of the rut. If not, hopefully they will be looking for feed with a frost last week and another this morning possibly.

1 deer to every 22 acres. I'd hunt where you could see some country. Those mature bucks there aren't stupid. You're gonna have to work for it.

Yes, my bones are already packed in the jeep.
We saw an old 8 point last year that was about 19". Ancient deer that was probably right on about 130. Also saw 3 or 4 very nice up and comers so maybe we will get it done.

Hunted there 6 years ago. Dad and I came up empty on the either sex hunt. This is not a slam dunk. Hunt all day. I saw deer in the middle of the day. Great hunt. Enjoy and let us know how it goes!

i would try and see what you can rattle up. its been slow across the board in south texas so far from everyone I've talked to.

this freeze we had last nite should get them up and looking for new food sources though.
