Thinking hard about putting my AR up for sale and get 2-3x what I paid for it. Anyone else cashing in?

I've got a couple lowers and have been thinking about putting one together and selling or trading it.

I'm thinking about selling an SAR-2. I don't really know how much to price it at. It's got a fairly low round count and a lot of upgrades.

I did, sold my AK for a kind of stupid profit. Bought some 80% AR recievers to flip to the real paranoia cases in a few weeks.

Have you seen the trading post recently?
I just want to know who the crazy people are that have the money to pay 3 times what things were going for last week, but didn't have the money then.

Same here. My AR would fetch a nice price. if I was going to sell it would go on gunbroker.

This is what I want to know. I had an AR up for sale that was easily worth $1300 with all the upgrades. I got lowballed left and right from people claiming "Oh the wife will kill me if I spend anymore than this" blah blah blah. Now that AR's are 3X the price they were everyone and their mothers are coming out of the wood work with pockets full of cash to buy one. Where were all these folks and all this money 2 weeks ago?

I also notice that most of the guys in the classifieds saying "I'll take it" have single digit post counts.

Yep... It's "not fair" that they have a basic knowledge of supply and demand and are reaping in the profit 100% legally (and 100% ethically if you ask me)...

Price gouging on luxuries does not phase me one bit. No one NEEDS an AR-15 or PMAG or any other gun related item to survive. They're choosing to buy those by their own will. Price gouging on essential commodities (i.e. gas, food, water, etc.), however, IMO, is wrong. There is a BIG difference between gouging on luxuries and gouging on essentials. Nothing wrong with the former.

Precisely. It's supply and demand, basic market economy. The demand dictates the price, and prices rise until it reaches equilibrium with the demand. If anyone should be held responsible for the high prices right now, it should be the panicking sheeple rushing out to buy up every gun they can get their hands on.

Buy low, sell high. Applies to everything. I'm very tempted to sell an extra AR and mags now. In a year or so my bet is there will be a lot better prices from the panic buyers who have no real use for them. Republicans do still control the House and gun control bills won't get them re-elected.

Dang, I worked hard and bought exactly what i wanted. If the price goes up all the better for me but my stuff is staying here. Haven't sold any of my guns since I started in 1957. I have several guns that are now worth 10x what I paid for them.

Try to find this one on market today. 1961 Winchester Model 70 Target 30-06 with Unetrl 20x. It was fired 40 shots by original owner. He was a friend and I bought it from his widow. He had it custom made to order at Winchester. I could have sold it 100x. Scope was brand new.

The list goes on and on.

If ya dont like your stuff then sale it. You should not have bought it anyways. Next time purchase sumpin ya want to live with.

My friend just bought one last friday a week to the day for $829 out the door. It was a full Palmetto State Armory build, which is even a little expensive for what it was, but the hysteria was starting to ramp up. He could turn around today and double or triple his money.

I look at it differently. I know I can't take it with me, so why amass stuff? I prefer to buy stuff, have some fun with it, and make a profit from it if I can when I'm done having my fun. Different motivation, different strokes.

to Txtwister: If you're buying today, you're overpaying compared to two weeks ago, period.

Guys , no one needs these things , they want em! To need and to want are 2 different things. I laughed last time this happened when all my buddies ran out and bought overpriced AR's and I'm laughing now! Bought one 3 weeks ago , flipped it for a nice profit, cuz I didn't need it. This crying is ridiculous and over some dumb chit! What I want to know is what guys are gonna do when the credit card bill shows up? I watched so many guys swipe plastic on this crap in the last week that its crazy , and at the worst time of the year when everyone is already overspending buying gifts for family and friends! Gotta love America!!!

Nobody has to sell ar's right now and nobody has to buy ar's right now. I've actually thought about getting rid of a few things I don't use a whole lot and making a little change, but it is costing me nothing to keep them so think I will hold on to what I got.

Now if you had guys buying up baby formula after a hurricane to flip it would be a different story.

Spot on. That's also why I drove up North with a truck load of diapers. You don't have to buy them and they certainly aren't a necessity so my conscience was clear. Had to hire armed guards to escort my money back.
