These are all from my dad.....
It takes 5 years to grow a 5yo deer.
Trust your mom, but still cut the cards.
When folks say "it's not about the money", it's about the money every time.
Even a slow day fishing or hunting, you will still learn valuable lessons.
It only takes one cast (to make your day).
Most critters are more scared of you than you are of them.
Don't tell your mom.
There's no sin in marrying rich - but be prepared to earn every penny.
Experiences are better than things.
(On hunting and fishing) No one every lay on their death bed and said "I wish I worked more".
Your job is not who you are
Be prepared - for anything
If the fox hadn't stop to take a dump, he would have caught the rabbit.
Well son, that was a real 'no-think' (heard that a lot growing up)
Don't ever give up fishing or hunting for a women - you will regret it and it probably won't work out anyway.
(when I complained about always getting the dirtiest, nastiest chores) I give them to you because you're the laziest and always figure out the best, quickest way to get the job done
Getting up early to study (do chores) never works out. Get it done before you go to bed.
Your mom and I will forgive, but don't count on us to ever forget.
Be self-reliant and expect to do everything yourself, no matter what it is - when you get help, it will be great - but if you start something or plan something and EXPECT that someone will help you, you'll be disappointed and angry a lot.
If they can't take a joke, f--- 'em!
If you don't have passion for something, you'll never put in enough time to master it.
If you want to be in charge, don't get married.
Don't expect someone or something to get better when you are married.
Never bet on drawing an inside straight.
Never gamble with money you can't afford or expect to lose
Regrets are foolish

I read this one years ago.
When you've sat hunting for as long as you can stand, stay there twice as long.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I like these: 1) A man has got to know his limits....from the movie Cool Hand Luke. 2) If you wait by the river long enough...the bodies of your enemies will float by. Sun Tzu. 3) I'd rather have a skunk inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in. Lyndon Johnson on J.Edgar Hoover. 4) Never justify the cost of a fishing trip by money saved from buying it at a supermarket. It's much cheaper to buy it from a supermarket. Trust me on that. My step- father.

My dad was an auto mechanic and he would be working in his hot dirty shop and be covered in grease and when someone would walk in he would say " it sure would be bad to be poor and have to work for a living"

You never step in the same river twice.
No prayer in school....What's next, no thinking in church? It's not just about pie in the sky when you die. It's also about steak on your plate while you wait!

Live your life like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, Then pee on it.
10 seconds to put on a rubber or 18 years to raise a kid.
If she smokes, she pokes.

Don't pass on the first day what you would shoot on the last day. Don't shoot on the last day what you passed on the first day. If you shoot it because the neighbor would. You are that neighbor. Work like your hungry. Work like you need it. Say it if you mean it if not, just think it. If you don't have anything good to say keep it to yourself. Don't confuse activity with productivity. When you come to me with a problem, bring a solution as well.

If it has tits or wheels your gonna have trouble with it.
In marriage you can either be right or happy but you can't be both.
Never bet another mans game
Live your life like your out on bail
Never go to Vegas with a woman you've known less than a month.
Tracers work both ways
Never shave naked with a straight razor
Measure twice cut once
If a hammer doesn't fix it then its an electrical problem
You only need two tools, a hammer and bailing wire. The hammer is for things that won't move but should, and the bailing is for things that move but shouldn't.
The surest way to double your money is to fold it twice and put it back in your pocket.

my dad gave us, passed down form his great uncle this advice about squirrel hunting: "step where I step. Walk where I walk. but above all remain silent and let your eyes guide you through the trees...." I will be teaching my son those exact words when it is time!
