Congratulations!

I share a fenceline with the park. We have seen some pretty good numbers of does, but not much in the way of mature bucks. Plenty of 2.5 year old bucks so it should be good again in a couple of years if we dont have more drought. The buck I shot was one of the smallest I have killed in 4 years. He only dressed 85lbs. He had run himself skinny. Two years ago on opening day I shot a 5.5 year old 10pt that field dressed 136lbs. The taxidermist didnt believe it was a hill country deer. He said that the head and the horns looked like a brush country deer. I suspect that we might have some different genetics in this area. Even the drought buck that I took late last season dressed 112.

Well Howdy neighbor! There certainly were not many mature deer taken. The 8pt. was only 4.5 yrs. The hunters reported seeing lots of deer. These type of culls should help the food availability for the other deer later in winter.
It sounds like some nice deer travel through your area.

Great buck

Congrats!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
