Saw this buck earlier this season on a windy day when the wind was blowing from the blind to where he was. He didnt give me a clear shot and then when he winded me, he melted back into the brush. Yesterday the breeze was in my face and he made a mistake. I hunt between Bandera and Tarpley and this is the only mature buck I have seen all season. Was beginning to think that I would not get one at all this season and I was just out enjoying a beautiful Hill Country afternoon. Not a great buck, but one with character due to the length of the brow tines. He had run himself skinny during the rut.

As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind...Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks--Thomas Jefferson

That is a tall-tined Texas Hill Country 8 pointer. We just finished up the hunts at Hill Country State Natural Area. Some good deer were harvested for this area. It was one of the better Deer hunts for the Park in several years. The heaviest was a 120lb. field dressed 8 pointer.
Congratulations!
