I have a Rem.7mm08 that i have run alot of different types of ammo trying to find what it likes so it seemed to like the accu tip 140. Okay i have killed 2 whitetail in the last two weeks with it and the Performance on the animal i found was Poor. both deer were shot between 80 and 120 yards broadside went in and exited on the under side of the deer, Not a clean Pass thru on either animal.Today i went to the range with a friend that had a box of Rem 120 gr hollow points so i shot a few and the gun liked them really well, so has any one had any similiar experience with the Accu tip / ballastic tip and what do you think of the 120gr. hollow points and how they would perform?

If your looking for clean pass throughs your going the wrong directions with the 120 gr hp from the 140 gr accutip.

I would look at a 140 grain prohunter, accubond, partition, sirroco or pretty much any other hunting oriented bullet before I tried 120 gr. HP's.

Thanks for asking the question LittleD, all though I haven't shot a deer with the Accu tips yet the problem you are describing has been my concern. Unfortunatly my rifle loves that ammo as well, I switched to core locts due to the concern and I am now questioning that bullet.

I am with redchevy however and stick with the 140's whatever bullet you choose.

You are not going to get what you want in factory loads unless you are willing to pay for Barnes X, or Swift A Frame, or Nosler
Partition. If you want a good load try a handloaded 100-120 gr
Barnes..It is solid copper, therefore, it will hold together and
penatrate if you insist on shooting body shots..but you must use
a completely clean weapon..not one that is normally clean if you
are only getting a little on the patch..Copper is affected by the
jackets on the other bullets as they are much harder material.
If you shoot head or neck shots only, you could get away with a 22 Short..DD

Thanks for the input guys i would prefer the 140gr if i could, just finding one that the gun really likes i have tried the Rem core lok/ fusion /hornady and rem accu tip with it being the best accuracy but i wasnt impressed with the performance. i guess i will have to try the Barnes next and then find someone to handload some for me. Thanks

Been shooting that round for 30 years now, have tried several bullets and my new favorite is the 140 Accubond, followed by 140 gr Swift Sirocco then the Partition. All 3 will do great in the arena of game. The accubond seems to be a bit more accurate for my rifle. Nosler loads for I think.
