Looking through the DU cookbook, I noticed there was a recipe that called for "Scaup, Wigeon, or other less-than-tasty duck (or something like that)"

I havent killed TOO many wigeons, but the ones I killed and ate I didnt notice a bad flavor...

Are you sure you read that right? I would not put Wigeon in the "less-than-tasty duck" category. I put them at the top, they are great tasting duck. I love widgeon.

I would not put wigeon in the poor tasting category at all. I think they're great.

My dog snores.

Taste like duck! 95% of what we shoot goes into burger/ sausage pile.

Tree duck
Spec
Scoter goes in the sear medium rare category. Redwine reduction sauce and c'est bonne.

Take mallard, pintail, wood duck, wigeon, teal, and gadwall. These are the top 6 best tasting ducks I shoot. I put widgion 5th, gaddy 6th.

Seriously?

A DU cookbook that says wigeon are less-than-tasty ducks?

No need to bash DU. Their cookbook says it all. "Chef" DU is probably not even a duck hunter. rolleyes
