I love the old argument about is it good, not good to post up your spots. So you decide. We don't need a big internet blow up just you decide what you think.

I got a line on public hunting in Kansas. So I started like I usually do, google and google earth. Well google gave me a websight of an outfitter and I visited his picture page. Very nicely done. Big Canada gees, lots of Mallards. That is what I like.

So it begins. I search his address and get to the nearest area he could be hunting.

I read another article showing the goose spread he was using but most importantly it had a boat, the same boat on the outfitters websight. So in promoting his business he let the author take some photographs, ones that showed the terrain.

Mind you fellas I have been at this a while. I found a piece of the terrain that could be recognized by my eye on google earth. I found the exact spot on public land he is taking clients out to. $200 a man.

So I googled a little more and found a Forum from Kansas.

It is funny because one guy blabbed a whole lot about when where and how. I got all I needed in about 2 hours worth of google. The funny part is the other locals were brutal to him telling him to shut up. they warned of out of staters coming if the information got out. He HE-Hawed them.

So guess what. If I don't go to Arkansas I am going up there. I am going to pound the ducks and geese they put on the internet. I can't thank that guy enough.

So post away fellaas I am constantly trolling for a screw up. If I find it I will be headed that way.

That's good work detective. Hell if I were going out of state for a short trip I'd probably just hire a guide.

I don't think I've posted any pictures all season....I have some good ones...but if you were all that interested you could just call me to come with.

I guess I just think a little different. Part of the fun for myself and the crew I hunt with is finding our own places and birds.

If it was just about shooting ducks I would tank jump all day.

For two of us that would be $800 extra bucks for a two day trip. It is three miles by boat and I have the 4 doz full body Canada goose decoys, 3 dozen full body Mallard and Pintail decoys and I got the boat that will run the skinny water. Why pay the extra $800

If you are saying that to me Leonardo regarding the use of a guide...well I can understand. My main point is if I'm going out of state chances are I won't have a ton of time to try out spots....I'd rather just be put on a spot that had promise. For me it would be about hunting a totally new spot. I'm not concerned with limits...nice to shoot them but at the same time I don't want to get skunked.

I'm broke as a joke now....government contracts dried up. 100% back to focusing on my practice. I'm good with it. I have more time to hunt but no money for fuel to get there. Damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing.

having a good hunt is all about gathering information and putting your work in. If some one let their honey hole leak, should've kept the info hidden better

hope you have a great hunt, look forward to seeing the results!

When I ask someone where they are hunting on the forum, I am only joking. When I am not asking is when I am in serious search mode. That is if they put anything on the internet anyways.

It could get ugly at the ramp with my Texas tags and all. Maybe I should put US FISH service stickers on my truck.

More power to ya.

Hopefully it pays off, but keep in mind how many other people did the same thing and have been or will be at that hole. You did bring up a good point on why we should all be careful with our reports.

Good luck with whatever route you go, and be sure to give a detailed report with lots of pictures.... wink

Wasn't directed at you or the OP just a part of the hunt that I thoroughly enjoy. I have been with guides in the past and the only reason I don't use them more is I like to do the work. It's rewarding to me.

Well thank you txpride! I do however doubt people caught what I saw. It was just a fluke that I caught it. Had I not been bored to tears at work I never would have seen it.

What is odd is I bad google earth on one screen honed in on what thought could be a good spot. Onthe other screen was the article with the pictures. I would not have nailed it had they not been open on the screens at the time.

I am pretty sure Arkansas is not going to happen. If it falls through I am pointing that excursion north. Me and the little black bitch are going to hammer out the 750 miles non stop, sleep and scout one day. Then put a tattoo on some waterfowl behinds.

I agree. I would much rather go at it alone. I use outfitters for snows. You can't stay on them if you lease a place. The only good way is an outfitter because they have some much land.
