I can only think of two animals I have missed. One was a doe the other would be my biggest 8pt if I had gotten him.
I think I shoot pretty good, but I can notice and tell that after a couple trips to the range of load development/testing I shoot considerably better or feel more confident.
Id say your doing ok chital just dont let your head sell up, practice and make sure you take good shots on your animals and itll all be fine.

You are a horrible shot. I know this by reading what you post and evaluating the font you have used. The font in a post is a direct reflection of the calibur of shot a person is. See the way your 'e's are facing? That right there tells me you shoot too far to the right..
It's true.
I read it on a website once.
I flipped my e's around the other way and my shooting improved.
Just saying.
crap..forgot to turn my e's....

From reading your posts, if you're truthful, then you're not by any means a bad shot. Just remember like Chevy said, don't let it go to your head and practice, practice, practice!! There's always room for improvement.
If I skip out on the range for even a month or two my accuracy suffers.

X2 to txtrophy85. Remember your only 13 and precison shooting takes the right gear and a lot of practice. Effectively hunting at long distances 500 yds or more comes from 3 things IMO. Trigger time, knowing your variables, and shooting enough when there is pressure and variables I.e not paper. I can hit steels all day long at 800-1000 yds with the rifles I have set up to do so but that doesn't mean I'm equipped to take animals at that distance yet.

While I agree trigger time is good, I think more tirgger time is needed to fix corrections.
I took my wife to the range with zero shooting experience and gave her good simple direction with a gun tha is very accurate with very low recoil rounds. She shot a better group than I did and it was the first time she ever shot a gun.
If you start with a perfectly clean white slate tha doesnt have the "i know how to do this metality" and then give them good instruction and they follow it a complete novice can beat a seasoned deer hunter.

On any given day, I have seen the best shots miss and the worst shots drop an awesome shot. Enjoy the moment and don't sweat the small stuff. At least that is the story I tell myself when I miss R

Well if you mean trial and error as in countless dollars spent to find what a load/ rifle does in "x" variables yep couldn't agree. But really if you have to ask you might be good for your age but not great. I haven't seen David Tubb or George Gardner tweet "am I a good shot"? Just saying.
Keep practicing remember when you think your good their is always someone better!!
Best advice I ever heard from an old bench rest guy was "learn the mechanics, ballistics, and everything you can right up to the point you squeeze the trigger, if ya wanna get good, any guy can finger f$@ a trigger and an make it go bang."

Well if you mean trial and error as in countless dollars spent to find what a load/ rifle does in "x" variables yep couldn't agree. Nope. By trial and error, I mean I would point, shoot, and then curse...then adjust and try again I have used the same gun for 20 years and am very comfortable and confident with it. I used to push the limits, but now I know them.

If you are confident that you are a good shot, then that is all that matters. Personnally, I have never missed a deer or hog...with a rifle...(knocking on wood). Just don't ask me to hit the broad side of a barn with a shotgun. Don't know why, just can't hit squat with shotgun. Deer fear me, ducks and dove taunt me.

It is less important to be a good shot, than a good hunter. Someone can be an above average marksman, but they take risky shots at game that is too far away and wound animals needlessly. Not good. If you know your limitations and only attempt shots you know you are capable of, you are a good hunter and can be proud of that. Marksmanship comes with practice, but ethics is an attitude.

Ok thanks guys. I doubt that my in-Texas hunts will seldom pass 250 if 200yd. And I dunno if i'll be going out of state/country for hunting anytime soon either. So thanks again. If I skip out on the range for even a month or two my accuracy suffers. That's weird cuz I BARELY go to the range like maybe 1nce 3-4 months. But my scope stays good adn my shooting stays the same.

In another thread you said you practiced with 10 shots a year. So you practice 3 shots every 3-4 months?

Umm like 13. And like a million birds if that counts. Well lets see here. You say you have only missed once, are a bird hunter as well and have killed a million birds. I would have to say that your one heck of a good shot.
All ready

In another thread you said you practiced with 10 shots a year. So you practice 3 shots every 3-4 months? 10shots, one range trip 3-4 months jsut throwing numbers. My point being we barely practice. No time.
