Been deer hunting for years, but with a rifle only... Im 27 now but remember just like yesterday....

I was 14 and begged dad for a good bow so i could hunt even more, a4s a surprise on my 14th birthday he bought me a hoyte rebel 2 with a 55 draw.... BRAND NEW!!!!... Untill 4 years ago almost exactly it has sat in my closets, through several moves and relocates... I picked it up a few days after November 30 2008 ... i remember because thats the day my dad died of cancer after a short 1yr fight... When cleaning out his house i found it and remembered him telling me i would never shoot it.... So i shot, and shot, and shot..... And hog hunted, and hog hubted, and hog hunted with this old thing untill i could thread a needle with it, and to my luck they open a 4 deer bow only season in my own back yard... Here we are....

Sorry for the bloody pics but i didnt have any water and was excited to send a pic to my mom...

Thanks dad, wish you were here so i could rub it in you face...lol

It's a great buck. Sorry for your loss but it sounds like you are doing him proud. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Very nice. There's a different satisfaction with the bow.

Ive done alot of gun hunting for whitetail, and kinda thought myself to be deer savvy.... I can honestly say ive learned more about deer in one month than ive learned in years of gun hunting... Im sure dad would bow hunt if he were here and definitely get an ear full of bragging if i could... But it makes me appreciate the values that he instilled in me that are becoming a rarity in this world... He was a good man

Awesome story... I have the similar story... Got a bow at 15 and never messed with it. Decided to get back into it about 3 years ago but decided the old bow was not gonna cut it so I gave it to another kiddo and bought a newer one!

Congrats on a nice buck!!!!
