Not very often for us, between two guys, we have six, but only three from Texas. Got one opening day this year, the one before that was 4 years ago in Ok.
I have bands from LA and Ok and have only hunted in those states a few times each year but 25 hunts a year in Texas for 22 years if that tells you anything.

Not much of a duck hunter, but I gave it a whirl one season. Got lucky pretty quick I guess. My ponds have been dry for several years since I bagged this guy.

First time I've seen that map, Rob. That is pretty sweet! Almost a straight line for you. I can tell you how many times I've told your story about the consecutive numbered bands two years apart. You have to be in only person in history to do that a year apart.

Thanks. Here is the story.

I was hunting a small lake next to a peanut field near Davidson, Oklahoma.Single mallard comes in and I take it. Banded Alzada Montana. Almost one year later to the day I was invited by a Ducks Unlimited Chairman to hunt his Duck Club lake near Thackerville, Oklahoma. He said since I was his guest I got first shot. A single greenhead comes in and I take it. Banded. I get to work, call in the number and then enter the number in my hunting notes. I could not believe what I was seeing. I shot the very next number. Consecutive band numbers in Consecutive years at lakes 100 miles apart. I dont even want to try and figure the odds on that.

Shot in Texas or Fell in Texas? Im right on the line. When the wind is out of the north the birds fall across the line.

I've killed one and been on 3 hunts where one was killed.

Mine was a greenhead and a month later to the day on the exact same hole my buddy killed a hen that was banded. We thought they had to be from the same area but they were different ages and from different part of the country.

I had a mentor that has killed several bands over the years but he killed a pintail on lake fork that was banded 4 days earlier in Juneau, Alaska. I thought that was pretty cool.

It is highly impacted by where you hunt- different flyways/ refuges band different numbers of birds and what species you shoot.

I've hunted the east coast fir brant and blackducks and shot 5 bands in one week We had a 3 yr 5000+ bird droubt in tx and got 3 in one weekend- 2 redheads and a pintail.

I have 25 from texas and have had 5 more shot out of my blind. but we shoot a lot of Ross' geese with bands and snows. Of the 20 goose bands I have 18 came from same banding site over an 18 yr time period. It's pretty obvious that this concentration of geese summer at the same spot in Canada and come back to our farm in tx. We average 1/100 on geese. I know guides that shoot 2000+ geese a year with no bands. Wrong flocks I guess.

Ive witnessed four from my boat in the last three years. I've shot zero. My buddy has three, and my other brand new duck hunting buddy shot one on his third hunt the last day of the season last year.

All redheads.

I shot a blue winged teal hen near the coast during teal season and it was banded 10 days earlier in North Dakota. My cousin shot a Wood duck drake in central TX that was from Tennessee. My friend shot a mourning dove banded locally in central tx.

20 Seasons in Texas 1st band this yr last day of early Teal season 1 BWT with a band. Have been on many many group Goose hunts in Wharton where we have shoot, 2 Banded Moteled Ducks, Saw a young man shoot a Banded Ross, and one big Bull Snow that we noticed was banded after shooting 50 or so snows, but no one knew for sure who shot it so we drew cards for it. I could not even when that one.
