I don't know about y'all but there is no way that I am eating a bird that has rice breast. I shot a bird today that had both its breast covered.

Big redfish and black drum sometimes have something that looks very similar. Never seen this in a duck though...

Not for me either. Don't feed it raw to dogs either, I was about too until i did some research on it.

Shovelers and pintail are the worst. But I've seen it in several different ones.

U have harvested alot of ducks and never noticed this.

So is it terrible to eat?

Shovelers and pins is where I've seen it, but I think it can occur in any duck.

Supposedly its fine, cody. Doesn't hurt the ducks either. Do a Google on it, there are some papers from universities that will tell you everything.

Shovelers pintails and greenheads. All last year when it was warm shallow water. not sure if it had anything to do with it or not.
