Went out this weekend to catch a quick hunt and check game cameras. To my suprise my game cameras are gone. So to date I've lost three 4 wheelers, 12' utility trailer, skinning knife and now 3 game cameras in 3 seperate thefts. The only camera they didnt get was the one overlooking camp but I didnt have any pics of them there. I've got one POS camera I'm gonna sacrifice as the decoy for my IR camera to watch. This could get interesting if it is who I think it is. Stay tuned, wont be able to set the trap until my next trip out so I'm thinking I wont have evidence until late Jan or Feb. Damn I hate a thief.

Saw a camera at cabelas the other day that transmits the photo wirelessly to a remote SDcard holder than can be well hidden from the actual camera, the card holder is about half the size of a beer can, looked pretty cool but kind of pricey.

you have cell coverage here? get a covert black ops. that way you know when they are there.

While it may be a typical police matter, contact your game warden as well since the theft includes hunting supplies. He may already be familiar with other hunter-related thefts in your area. After all, it may be poachers who are trespassing who are stealing your stuff.

The justice system sure hasn't done the trick. You hear the punks talking all the time saying stuff like....eeh its only a couple of years [in the pen], so what. They use their 'jail time' as bragging rights and they are proud of it.....and it pisses me off to no end.

Been here, done that, got the T-shirt, too, my friend; they took guns, all our computers, electronics, jewelry, heirlooms, the whole 9 yards. But I will say this: all the guns, TVs, and material crap or peace of mind isn't worth the legal ramifications of killing somebody for theft alone as you described.

And be mindful of what you say here; the DA will use everything you say here in the court of law to prove you intentionally killed somebody, God forbid you ever find yourself in that situation. And these days, a jury of your peers ain't got your back... Just a few friendly words of advice, worth the price of admission charged

We had a bad problem with theft vandalism, etc. on an East Texas (imagine that) lease I was on a few years ago. One of our members planted some game cams around camp and eventually got some jim-dandy pictures of one of the yahoos with his arms full of stuff. Turned photos over to the sheriff's dept. turned out they were well acquainted with the gentleman in question. They picked him up and he initially denied ever being in that part of the county. When they showed him the pictures he started singing like a canary. He gave up some buddies of his that were in on some of the theft at our place, and confessed to a few other bad acts. I understand he lives in state housing now and our trouble at the lease stopped.

Had a dozen or so cars and garages get broken into last weekend in the neighborhood I live. One guy had his fourwheeler taken for a joyride but was found not far from his house. Looks like it may be a bunch of punk kids because of that and peoples belongings that were removed from cars and garages were found in other peoples vehicles and garages???

These stupid kids think they are funny but once one gets a bullet while breaking into someones garage a 4am I bet it all stops.

Sorry for not replying faster and thanks for the thoughts. It is happening in west texas just west of Obrien. The 4 wheelers and trailer were stolen out of a barn in town and the other stuff from the lease, which is about 10 miles away. I'm starting to think its the new ranch hand for the owner, or some of his cohorts. Didnt have a lick of trouble till this cat started running around the property. I spoke to the game warden just prior to this happening and intend on letting him know of this event. I think the DB is hunting the place and saw an opportunity to make a quick buck. We've had SD cards taken but not the whole camera.

I've got one more camera to put out on a decoy camera and I will make sure it's hidden well. I wish we had better cell service so I could use one that emails the pic but service is spotty at best. I'm starting to think the land owner wants us off and is letting this guy do whatever is necessary to run us off. I've heard the ranch hand has been running his mouth in town about going up on price or changing the terms on our place. Not sure what to believe now. Frustrating to say the least, I work my arse off to have a decent lease to go to and this just makes it much harder to justify the continued headache. OK, whining over, time to think of more ways to catch this tool.
