I would like to do a few quick hunts before work. Under the assumption that I shoot something, will it be okay to leave the birds whole on ice all day and clean them in the evening?
I am curious also if rigor will set in during the day and if it would be recommended to age the duck to get past the rigor stage?
Happy hunting!

Rigor sets in no matter what you do with them.
But you're fine with them on ice. On a day like today, I don't even have ice. There's a teal and a specklebelly sitting in the bed of my truck right now in the parking garage.

There are a bunch of "democrats" on three of the floors in this building (call center), and I can only imagine if any of them see those in the back.

Just make sure they stay pretty cold. I went on a weekend trip with a buddy about 5 years ago where we decided to "age" them and just clean them all when we get home. It was cool out and we had a cooler with some ice. Well the ice melted and the birds we killed Saturday morning were bad when we tried to clean them Sunday evening. Lucky for me it was my buddy that was a second faster than me..he started pulling out the breast and caught a wiff of it and threw up. I laughed pretty hard at him for that but was kind of disappointed with myself for letting that Saturday's birds go bad. Honest mistake but it could have been prevented if we would have checked the ice.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!
