Hunted hard Friday, Saturday, Sunday and it was probably the least number of deer seen in a couple of seasons. Handful of does, several young bucks, nothing that even got the pulse going.
Normally we see lots of deer so it was a big let-down. Oh well, guess that is why it is called hunting, not shopping.

that's how our season has been. Too dang hot and too many acorns. No rain to rot them either. Deer are not hitting the feeders. Maybe this cold front will get things moving. It has been a disapointing and strange season though.

This cold snap may be too much for me to take sitting down. I've got plenty of vaction days left and may burn one around the middle of the week.

I havent seen a whole lot of deer either and definitely not any mature bucks. I have seen four 2.5 year old bucks but nothing I would shoot. Thinking maybe the years of drought have caught up with our herd.

We had them on camera until about a month ago. Now we are seeing very few on camera and ZERO while were in the blinds.

I've been hunting Houston County for over 20 years and this is the first time I have not seen a buck that was worth taking this deep into the season. And I can count on one hand the total number of bucks that I have seen so far.

We have seen plenty of bucks but no monsters
Lots of deer in general, except this weekend.
We also found out an oil well going in 250 yards from our favorite blind...
ARG!

This whole season has sucked. It has. Everyone else I talk to and most I read here indicates it's widespread. This is the only buck I've seen in normal hunting hours (yesterday morning, in fact) and clearly it's not eligible to take.

This last weekend is the first time I've been skunked since rifle season began. I almost always see 3-4 doe at my feeder, but they were nowhere to be found since friday.

We did shoot two decent management bucks a few weeks ago and my son got his first buck.. plus a few does.. All in all a decent season so far.

The drought last year has done a lot of damage. We are just now seeing the impact of it. Could take years before it gets back to normal. IF we don't get another hard drought like we had last year next year.
