Knuckleheads hear in Louisiana have shot and killed two protected black bears so far this season. Both were shot and left in the field. Pretty sizable rewrds are offered but no citations yet. There are only an estimated two to three hundred in the state...

Danged hogs been messing up the yard!

I heard about that. The story I heard goes something like this. "a man was riding horseback working cows in his pasture and came across a blackbear. So he shot it and told his illegal Mexican worker to dispose of it where no one would see it. The alien didn't know it was illegal to kill them so he cut the paw off and was showing all his buddies. Word got out and they caught the guy who did it. But he was so rich he ended up not going to jail and just got fined." I've herd the law is really crooked in Menard, I've been through there twice. I stay in Brady usually though.

Story I heard was a little different, but close, we actually used to buy firewood from the guy that got caught with the paws. He didn't actually shoot the bear, I heard it was one of the oil guys working on a pump jack. Who knows, I did hear though that the guy that had the stuff actually got in more trouble than the guy that actually shot it.

Quickest way to get rid of any animal: tell a Cajun they are good to eat and out of season.

there are jackasses in every state. I hope they find those guys and put it to them. I am also looking for the bears to make a comeback and maybe in the future be legal to hunt via permits.

If you need a couple of replacements, my mom has plenty around her house in Ruidoso. You can have all you like. These are in her yard.

In no way am I advocating the illegal shooting of bears, but I really hope they don't get too populous in Texas. If you think coons are bad on deer feeders and other equipment, try having a bunch of 200 - 300 pound coons running around.

I've got some 12 gauge rubber pellet riot control rounds and bean bag rounds for those 300 lb coons.

People will be all for protecting them until someone's child gets mauled. There is a reason they arn't here anymore.

My grandad in uvalde says they are coming out of the Mexico mountains and moving into south texas. He didn't say why but I've got a guess or two. I will not hesitate to shoot one if me, my family member or my dog gets attacked. Otherwise, I will happily let them walk. I might ven take pictures or set up a bait sight if I do spot one. I think they're fascinating.

Same reason any other Intresting animal has been hunted out , just think if there was no limt on deer there would hardly be any deer ,
Bear would be cool to have back in Texas again
Black bears are not gonna randomly attack you , your just as likely to be attacked by a hog ,
It would be awesome to have all the native animals back someday

I'd be willing to bet they are being assisted in the name of research. Black bears are not extinct nor endangered, infact anyone on here can go hunt them every year. Same thing went for the wolf bs, leave well enough alone.

Sure. Google "hog attacks in Texas" and "bear attacks in Texas" I bet you can count confirmed cases on one hand.

maybe that is because there are ?millions? of hogs and 22 black bears. i guess that doesn't change the odds. but i'd prefer they NOT change.

I'm curious about what they eat when their nut & berry diet is gone from Nov-April.
