I seen where they advertise Sika bucks starting at $650?? Is this place legit or is that just a ploy to get you on the ranch and the price really starts at $1700? Just looking for some info on the place. Thanks.

Go up to Search and type in DBHunting Ranch. That should help answer your question.

Its a smaller place and they bring in animals
Danny has always treated me right.
Never heard any concerns over price changing.

They have a good rep. It is a smaller place but it has heavy cover and changing terrain. It's not a canned hunt but you will see animals.

X2. Great, great place and people. I shot a red deer cow and my uncle a bull in 2010

My son and I went on a pig hunt there, we did not see anything (except Black bucks) so they told us wee could come hunt for free the next day, that was cool. But we could not go but they atleast offered. The cleaning area was discusting though. Dead rotten pigs under the hanging rack. smell was awful. They new it and said that area was fixing to be cleaned up. they blamed it on another worker that was not there. Other than that it has thick cover and box blinds, It was still a fun hunt. Me and my 7 yr old left and went and took a Elk cow threw MMK outfitters. But see if they guarente you animal because a couple that was there to shoot a axis payed for it but didn't see one and did not get there money back, was just told they could come back the next day but they had other plans and left, I thought it was kinda shitty because I payed 100 bucks to see nothing (which I was fine with) but they spent 300 for the same

So are you complaining that you were offered extra time to complete your hunt at DB?

Are you saying MMK did not offer extra time for an Axis?

I have no idea what you are writing.

I can tell that you shot an elk with MMK, congratulations.

I can tell that you saw Black Buck and did not see hogs with DB but they offered you another try.

I can tell that DB needed to remove a gut pile.

I have never hunted with MMK but they seem to have a good reputation on the forum. They are also not the topic of this thread.

I have hunted with DB and will say that I have had great success. I will agree that if a gut pile was there that it should have been removed as that is not good but, I will also say that sometimes things happen. I have not had an experience with a gut pile issue at DB. I will also say that hunting is not a guarantee. DB is pretty thickly covered in cedars and it is not a gimme hunt. I would also ask did you hunt for hogs in the AM or the PM as hogs seem to move a lot more in the PM.

Sorry, for your issue but it sounds like there was an admirable attempt to correct the issue. That alone should carry a lot of weight.

Good luck hunting in the future, and it is great you are spending time with your child in the hunting blind. That is a very good thing to do. Also, if you saw Black Buck how much did he enjoy that?

I have hunted there with great success. Killed a hog within an hour and a half of being in the stand I could have killed one way before that but was waiting for an Axis buck to show up

DB has put in some new lodging that looks nice? Danny and his guys are great. I have wounded a hog there and we couldn't find it. Also taken many animals and seen lots of animals. I agree the cleaning station can be messy at times, but that's not a big bother to me. Good luck!

I've hunted there and had a GREAT time. They went out of their way to get me an opportunity on a fallow. When I finally had that opportunity my shot was not perfect (need to practice distance shooting on sticks more) - but they expertly tracked my animal and we had a successful conclusion to the hunt. The price could not be beat ($750 for a fallow buck). I saw more exotics there than I've seen at most places I've hunted - a very wide variety.

The accomodations were fine. I had originally intended to hunt only a day but stayed for two so they put me up overnight in the cabin. It is spartan - but it serves it's purpose was clean and bug free. I slept like a lamb.

Yes, the animal cleaning area needed cleaning and was smelly - but I don't go hunting to view spotless cleaning areas, I go for opportunities at nice game animals at an affordable price and Danny has plenty of that.

I'd go back for sure.

Earl

We're on our way back from there right now as a matter of fact. Took my son with me to get a piggy. I've been to a few pay HF ranches, and I was interested how DB might compare. So here's my quick n' dirty review.

Owners - A+. Very friendly, good communication in setting up the hunt and with info on where and when to meet.

Property - B. Seemed clean with no junk or dilapidated equipment left. I agree the gut pile should be cleaned and disposed between hunts. Not a show stopper for me though.

Animals - A+. We saw tons. Aoudad, axis, fallow, red stag, piggies, piggies, piggies.

Hunt/value/experience - Hunter dependent. For this trip, it was an A+ because I wanted my 6yr old son to see animals and have fun. For someone wanting meat or wanting to try out a new rifle or give handgun hunting or bow hunting a try, definitely an A+. If you wantn to use knowledge, skills and really work to get your animal, it's probably not the best choice. Feeder goes off, animals come pouring in. Make your selection and pull the trigger. My experience was more of a shoot than a hunt, but for what kind of hunt my son has the patience to handle at age 6,it worked out great. I don't know if the owners would allow it but I think the place is perfect for a spot/stalk with a bow.

And of course, the guaranteed shot opportunity is pretty rare and makes the hunt less stressful overall. I am going to schedule another hunt and take my bow next time.

I hunted there last thursday and killed a small hog prob around 50 lbs perfect for smoker. There wasn't alot moving but it was very windy and I didn't expect them to be moving well. Out of 4 hunters I was the only one to get an animal. All in all I am happy with my hunt.
