I know this has been talked about many times before, but I'm lazy and I know you guys need something to do during the split. I have about 2 to 3 dozen mallard decoys that are in need of some new paint. It is better to repaint them back as mallards or to paint them as ringnecks? I hunt mainly in east Texas. If its better to paint them back to mallards then what is the best way to go about it. Thanks for the input guys. Don't worry the split is almost over.

What would be more usefull to you? Do you have more mallards decoys? Do you have any ringneck decoys? Which species do you see and shoot more often?

I mainly have all mallard. A few teal and wigeon. It just depends on the season. We shoot almost everything here.

Why limit yourself to mallards and ringers?

Paint + Time = Trash can, and buy new ones., I have to say that is wrong^^^^^ Wash them with degreaser never touch them with your bare hands again ( oil on your skin can cause paint to peel. Use flat exterior latex paint. Spray with krylon matt finish when your done. When I gunned over plastic decoys I repainted a bunch of decoys, some were 20 years old. You wont save a bunch of money but its fun to do. Its a summer time project, I don't think your paint will cure well in the winter. Some sport would usually sink one of my repaints before it had time for the paint to come off. Once I learned the right way to paint them, my repaints far outlasted the paint on all my GHG decoys.
