I don't really give a crap about Green. Wow! I dont know what to say about that! As long as I have some ducks to show and eat I will be good! We rarely get greens around where our lease is so I dont really care about them either. Any duck is good to me.

"If doesn't have a green head, it aint a duck." You ever seen a rice field on the grand prairie loaded up? Every species you could think of will be in there. It's not a Texas thing, it's not an Arkie thing, it's just the thing... I will say it's looked upon with a little more reverence here in Texas because it's tougher to do.

people in arkansas would love to hammer down on a pintail or gadwald im willing to bet You have no idea what you are talking about. Pintails were always cool, mostly because they were super rare. Probably saw 7 or 8 killed growing up in the Arkansas delta. But I've killed more straps of straight grey in Arkansas than Texas can think about. I love gadwall, but nobody would trade green for grey. Green was far from guaranteed in Arkansas. We had many years they wouldn't make it south in time.

As a kid on the katy prairie we used to see swarms of them. The limit then was 10 pintails and that was not hard to achieve back then. We had a lot more mallards on the prairie back then as well.

Pintails are far from rare if you hunt rice fields, but what Arkansas doesn't have is all the pintails that get harvested on small ponds and lakes; that is definitely rare.

15 years ago pintails weren't doing well. Season was only open for 30 days, 15 at the beginning, and 15 at the end. There were very few pintails in southeast Arkansas, even on the rice.
