Just talked to Sallysue and he said they had 19 hunters and harvested around 40 birds near Plainview !

Wow that's great. My bro in law knows the surroudning area well and he can't find any.

Found out yesterday that a friendof ours is up there and they haven't seen one bird.

I live in plainview , there are no birds. My opinion they must have bought birds for release.

My self and 4 others killed 11 in 45 minutes around Dimmitt. There are birds to be had if you hunt places that nobody else does.

Let me correct that we only shot 21 birds. Super dry and no water

No pen birds. I was pleasantly surprised by the numbers this year. We had to work hard for the one's we got though. A couple of good guides and tons of spots to pick from didn't hurt either.

Enjoyed having Sallysue and his crew again this year. They're a great bunch of hunters and excellent shots. Very few wasted flushes with his group.

I think I gained weight! The food was worth the price of admission! MrG is right we had to work hard and walk far to scratch out our birds in Plainview. The ONLY good thing about the drought was the lake bottoms did not have near as many willows to bust through to push the birds out into the open.

I'm headed to petersburg/floydada on friday.. Anybody hunt around there and did u see any birds??

I saw 3 roosters in the ditch near petersburg about a week ago. I've also heard from a friend in Floydada that there are some birds around. Good luck!

How long does it take the birds numbers to recover after a dry year? Looking at going next year with some friends and wanted know if it'd be worth my time trying to set up a trip if we had a "normal" year next year...

It all depends on how much and when it rains. In 2010 the Plainview area we hunt had 3 hatches and birds everywhere. If it stays dry it will be tough again next year too.

We hunt at Edmonson and Olton, no birds

Friends hunted the Olton area for two days. No birds.

Great hunt in Petersburg!..in my opinion. 4 guys kicked up 5 roosters and killed 3. The other 2 were to far out. I wasn't expecting much so I thought we did pretty good.. kicked about 7 hens also.

Killed a few more today around Dimmitt. Seeing all kinds of signs too. After a little snowfall this evening the hunting should be spectacular. Up until now the conditions for dog work have been pitiful. Plan to hunt the ranch for quail wednesday afternoon.
