I bought a hog trap and for the past two months I've been trying to trap hogs. So far not so good. I've put corn, corn w/ hogwild, corn w/ jello ( cherry flavor), corn with some stuff that said sweet nasty on it, but nothing is working. I placed my game can so I can see what's going on. They eat everything around the trap but will not go in. Please someone give me advice.

Move it and brush it in. If youre on small acreage, u still need to move it. Be as scent free as possible. Don't throw as much corn on the outside of the trap.

Thanks all advice will help, but what about the bottom of the trap? Should I cover the bottom panel with dirt so that the wires are not exposed.

I doubt that's necessary, but I've never gotten that deep into trapping. Some others around here may be able to tell you yes or no, but I can't help you with that one. Good luck

U shooting them in the trap ? If so that's not good like he said scent free need to move , I have a 4/6 cage I keep in camp so when we trap them in the hog trap we take it over and place it in front of the other and push them over into the other cage and drag it away from the trap I know it sound like to much work but keeping the trap scent free is the key

I never understood the idea of not shooting em in the trap. I do it and haven't seen it effect the pigs. They eat meat hell they will eat eachother a little blood in the trap ain't hurting. I have noticed they don't like stepping on the panel. I don't have bottoms any more and most pigs walk right in.

I use sweet feed for bait. Also have a floor, and shoot them in the trap. Still works.

You could try placing bait ONLY right in front of the door, then a little closer, then IN the door way, then just inside, and so on. tie the door open until the bait is getting cleaned up, then move the bait spot to the back of the trap, with a slight trail to the door and outside, and set the door.

I dont see a problem in shooting them in the trap, but it has been known to make some nervous later. It just depends on the pig. As far as floor, I never had much problem, but it does make sense that they would be hesitant, especially if they are leary of the trap already.

Sweetfeed works, but you'll attract more than pigs pretty easily. You'd be surprised what corn that's been shaken up in a 5-gal bucket that had a just an ounce or so of diesel in the bottom of it. Deer and coons won't bother it, and the diesel will carry on the breeze better. I don't know why they like it, but they do.

Close the door, s funny as that sunds. Out on our place we used to have the smae problem. Dont put so much on the outside but when we closed the door they actually started coming in one after another. Its pretty funny to watch if you set a camera up. WE had pics of them all around the trap with the door open and never would go in. Closed the door and for some reason they were fighting to get in.

If ur havin trouble catching pigs tie the door back and bait so they get used to eating out of it then after they get comfortable set it normally and then you for sure catch some it works every time for me
