How's everyone doing today?
I have a little subject I want to talk to everyone about who hunts in Texas. Its December and where I'm at the high has been 82 for the last couple of days. That's high for December. Anyway where I hunt it has gotten down to the 30s but it's been the high 30s. this weekend I'm going out and the low is 59. It's crazy. but I just wanted to see how everyone's hunting season is going with this heat. Has it been better or worse? And do y'all like it or no?

You don't always see something or get a shot. That's why they call it hunting, not killing.

I have been frustrated. I had a weekend deer lease, and I spent the weekend out there. I saw one doe with a pair of yearlings. (I did not shot.). This was a rather expensive weekend with nothing to show. I got no one to blame, but I can still be frustrated.

I am having a pretty tough season. There is hardly any water at my duck spots. I have been stopped by GW five times this year. That is more than the last forty years of hunting. I have been surrounded by others that are frankly poor sportsmen. I have seen people shooting at hawks on opening day of dove season. (I called Operation Game Thief). My wife asked me why I bother. I spend a lot of time researching places, making sure I know the rules, and have the proper equipment. My answer is that I can't imagine what else I would do.

The weather has made it tuff to bag anything, went out this weekend and with the bright moon and warm days there was little to no movement during the day. I would see some pre-dawn movement but by 6:45 it was nil.

Afternoons were not much better.

about two weeks ago I went on a hunt in west texas and it was so green the animals had no reason to eat off the feeders I had out, heck I had more corn on the ground than in the feeders! So the deer were very spread out.... I hunted the water holes!

I have had the best year in a while. I had hunters take 4 eight point,1 nine, 2 spikes and 3 does in about 3 weeks. There was a heavy rut early and now things are back to normal.
