is there an air valve on your gas tank? It should be open just a smidge. Sometimes they can work themselves open/closed just a little too much. Had it happen to me. Just something easy to check...

maybe, but that sounds about right... I'm not good at this stuff in words online haha. If I could see/hear it in person I could probably help. There should be a couple guys here that can help, or point you in the right direction.
Old gas? dirty carb? There's a lot of small things you can do/try without taking anything apart and before you take it to a mechanic and pay an arm and a leg for a $2 fix.

Yeah. If it was running fine before the haul I would think it's got to be something small/simple. No real reason for something major to be mechanically wrong. Although boat motors can be finicky of course.

I had mine just do the same thing, was a gummed up needle valve. Ran fine for 15 years, and instantly stopped with no sign of trouble. Stripped her down, cleaned it up, and she's good as new.

shouldn't be too bad. Just put it back like you take it off I know that's easier said than done most times. You might could just run some carb cleaner through it and give it some shots of B12 that may help it start then the cleaner will clean it up. Unless it's never been cleaned it may be kind of dirty. Also I'm not sure but there may be some sort of fuel filter that could have gunk in it too causing your problems. After that 75 mile ride something in there could've wiggled around and is now blocking the fuel.

I just did about 4 of them on boats and four wheelers. It isn't hard. THe best way to do it is use a digital camera. It is free to just snap a pic of every part you take off the carb, before you take it off. Then just reference your pc with any questions.
Note to self or whoever. If you have a screw with a spring and you are removing it. Count the turns it takes to come loose. Write that number on a piece of paper and put it in the photograph. That way you can count the turns going back in and get the adjustment close.
Give it a try. I am pretty sure trailering your boat broke some gunk loose in the carb. The crap that came out of all the ones I just built looked like crystalized vaseline.

Ain't hard at all, there were only two bolts holding mine on. After disconnecting the idle /choke knob, it was smooth sailing. My carb was clean, scary clean actually, but when I took the bowl off, the valve the float pushed on was stuck. I run blue stabil religiously, but I guess sometimes things stick.
First you need to isolate that it for sure the fuel, and not spark. I usually spray some fuel in the carb and she'll crank up if everything else is right, but my 98 is a gentle girl, doesn't take much to get her going. I feed her a new set of plugs every 2-3 years, that keeps her young.
I was able to troubleshoot that I had no fuel in the bowl by pressing the primer button on the right side of the carb. I could feel that it was pumping air. Not sure if the 02 has the same carb or not. If you take the flywheel cover and the starter off, you have a lot more room to work with.
