If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Secondary rut is not as strong as the first one, Does that did not get bred the first time around will be back in heat 28 days later. There will also be doe fawns that will be in estrus and that depends on when they were born and how quick they mature.

I saw a very nice 10 pt today in Camp Co. in broad open daylight so I would think the rut is still on here.

After hunting NE Texas for awhile now I always thought that secondary rut was a myth, LOL. Or so it has always seemed to me. After thanksgiving things get real slim except the last 5 mins of LST.

In 2003, Marion county, I saw 2 mature bucks and 2 young bucks chase a doe past my stand on New Year's Day. Buck tag was already filled Late February of 2006, Harrison county, I watched a 130 class buck dogging a doe late one night driving home. Pulled over and watched him follow her around a pasture. You never know when you may see rutting activity in the south. Stay in your stand and don't get out

Pretty decent buck got smoked yesterday in Omaha on hwy 67 right in front of the bank. They are prowling around again in places and at times that make you think they got something on their minds.

I shot my buck this year on December 15 running two doe in my bottom wheat field This was the first rut sign I've seen in fannin county all year I also hunt pottsboro right off lake texoma and the rut was heavy there this year in early November The two spots are only 40 min apart Strange how the woods work

I killed my buck on Dec. 31 and he seemed to be in a second rut. He had only been seen on cam at night until a few days before I took him. And when I took him he was running with a doe and stunk of rut. His first rut was end of Oct. as I have several cam pics of him running a doe during day then.

In SETX my experience has been that rut is in full swing in mid Oct, secondary in early-Nov and then you'll have does continue to cycle and fawns hitting cycling weights all the way through end of Feb.

By doing some fetus checks in the last week or so the rut was Oct.17 -november 12.Have yet to find one this year latter than this, but have not taken any young doe for a fetus check.Usualy we have some of these bred in late Dec or early jan.The bucks I have seen in the last 3 weeks are already in groups of 5 or more.
If it's not overkill then it's underachievement.

Our young ones are, the older ones seem to still be running solo and active on the scrapes. Wish they'd get hungry.

I hunt Liberty County and we had a rut at the end of Sept. early Oct., one towards the end of Oct. early Nov. (the big one), another around Thanksgiving and usually see another towards mid Dec. that never materialized. In fact, most of our younger bucks were ganging up again by mid Dec. this year.

Was hunting saturday Jan 5 and saw 3 young bucks eating and hanging like they were the best of buds. Thought the rut was over until I saw a mature buck run after a couple does 30 minutes later. he was running in circles around where they had been and lip curling the whole time.
Fannin County

We picked up a couple shed antlers sunday on our lease.
