So i'm just wondering if yall gun gurro's out there could give me some advice as to what i should do for an x-mas present. I've got a 10/22 i got awhile back from a trade off of (texasguntrader.com). It came with a tactical stock to transfer it into if I wanted, but outside of that, everything is like it was originally when the first owner bought it. I am trying to get into a shooting club, but besides the 10/22 and an old shotgun i got from my now dead grandpappy i do not have any guns. But the catch is my ever loving parents are going to let me pick out my Christmas present this year, as long as it has something to do with shooting; AND it is under 200$. So should i look to buy some stuff for my 10/22 to make it more accurate; if so could you list some stuff? Or should i invest in a used pistol? If so, would it be remotely probable to find one bigger than a .22 for under 200$? Thanks

Ruger MKII, basic model
It'll have to be used, but you can find one for around $200.

Ruger Mark and 22/45 pistols are the best 22LR pistols I've ever shot.

I will get laughed off the forum for suggesting this, but look into a used H&R revolver. You should be able to find a very clean one and they are all American made, dependable, and primarily designed for the farmer/rancher who wanted a dependable accurate pistol to shoot skunks, possums, and run their traplines. They do not have the best sights or the slickest trigger pulls but neither did the early revolvers that won the west.
One question, are you old enough to be carrying a handgun from the house to shooting range?

I would send that 10/22 to Randy at CPC (Connecticut Precision Chambering)( and let him do bolt and chamber. It will come back a tack driver. With what is left, get a trigger job. Check rimfirecentral for details.
Cast I have a short attention spa

you think it would be a good shooting pistol? You'll run through a brick of 500rds before you know it. Ruger makes one of the best 22 pistols anywhere. Plus there cheap and just like the 10/22...there's lots of aftermarket parts

This may make me sound uninformed grasshopper, but does the Ruger MKII come in any other caliber than a 22?
The reason i ask is because i am 17 and any pistol i buy will most likely be my side arm for hunting.
Also since my dad takes his pistol with him whenever he is out of state (which just so happens to be about 28 out of 30 days in the month) it will be the only pistol in the house, so i want it to be a caliber my mom or sister can actually use as a home defense weapon.
