i've got an LMT MRP CQB that is both 6.8 and 5.56. Both barrels shoot to about point of aim at 300 yards. 6.8 being about an inch or so lower than the 5.56 at that range. Accurate as heck with both barrels. But more expensive than the rest. And grasshopperglock is right-the list of the bad ones will be shorter. Pretty much all of them produce decent stuff for their price range.
In God we trust, all others get run through TCIC. Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Lack of Planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

I looked at the 6.8 when I built my last AR. Plinking ammo is not cheap. Don't get me wrong, I think the 6.8 to one BA round.
But for the price, range, and ease of conversion. I used 300Blk. The ammo is about $3-4bucks cheaper then the 6.8. Most of my hunts are well within 150yards.
IDK why the 6.8 hasn't taken off like 300blk. You think it would be a better seller. Cheap plinking ammo like the 300.
Then again, Remington won't get off their butt and really try to sell the 30rem AR. It's suppose to be one of the best rounds that can go into an AR.

AR Performance makes nice uppers and barrels in 6.8 SPCII that will handle the hottest ammo available for the 6.8 and are accurate as anything I have shot. If you are looking at a SPCI, run away like it has the plague...
If you want to plink, get a 5.56 or .223 as they are much cheaper than 300 or 6.8. If you want to shoot suppressed or close range, 300 is OK. If you want seriously hunt and kill pigs reliably past the yard fence, pass on the 300 and get the 6.8.
Also, if you are serious about hunting, good hunting ammo ain't cheap for any of them. I've sold all my 300BOs and converted to 6.8x43 because it works that much better and does it a whole lot further. If you are reloading, they all cost almost the same after you buy the brass for the first time except the 6.8 takes MORE powder because it is MUCH MORE powerful. The good bullets cost almost exactly the same for the 300 vs. 6.8, it's only the initial cost of the brass that makes 6.8 more expensive.
Don't fall for the "Silvers Bullet" BS.

It will be primary used for hunting.
Here is a dumb question. Been looking at uppers…. Would my .223 work as a lower?

So whats the difference between spc1 & spc2? SPCI was Remingtons design. When they submitted the drawings, they screwed up and send the wrong chamber drawing that turned into a SAAMI spec chamber. The tight chamber coupled with fast twist rate made lots of pressure in the chamber. SPCII is the corrected chamber design that lets you shoot 95gr TTSXs close to 3000FPS and is very accurate. It's pretty interesting that they made the 300BO but refuse to compare the 300BO to the SPCII chambered guns in all their "unbiased" testing.

Here is a dumb question. Been looking at uppers…. Would my .223 work as a lower? Yes. You will need to purchase at least one new magazine, however. If you have separate uppers for 5.56, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, the WSSMs, .300 Blackout and a number of others that I'm probably forgetting about, you only need one lower.

You will also need a new bolt for most calibers (not 300 BO or 6mmx45)

Spikes Tactical. Loved my 6.8 and it was a ba round on the pigs. I still expect it to take off. I mean, the same size as a 5.56 and dang near the knock down of the .308, what more could you ask for.

Can I get that for FREE??? Just asking....LOL!! I've had more success with the 6.8 in two months than I did most of the last year with the 300BO.

I have to vote for Rock River for the complete rifle at a decent price. I bought one about 6 months ago and have been very impressed. It shoots bughole groups, has great fit and finish, and had an awesome two stage trigger. First AR and will definitely buy another in the future.
Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.

My 6.8 has a Stag SPCII upper and it's run like a clock through several hundered rounds. Very accurate. My "go to" pig gun.

This is my 6.8 build. AR Performance 16" barrel in YHM trim. Function and performance have been excellent with no FTFs or FTEs. If ya build it ya get it the way you want it the first time. 7 hogs with it so far.
